Armor (shield), rare (requires attunement by a creature of a non-good alignment) This fine black shield is adorned with the crest of a nine-tailed whip. Shields like it were once wielded by the Maidens of Pain, an ancient cult of the pain goddess Loviatar. This shield has a +1 bonus to AC. In addition, when you are hit with an attack by a creature within 5 feet of you, you can cause the attacker to suffer inexplicable shots of pain. The attacker suffers 1d12 necrotic damage and has disadvantage on their next attack roll. This property of the shield can't be used again until the next dawn. |
