Skorupi[edit]

Physical Description[edit]

Skorupi resembles an oversized, pale purple scorpion. Its claws and tail have been swapped, giving it two stingers and a claw tail. The miniature mandibles, claws, and tail claws are white and sharp. Its short arms are attached directly to its head, close to its oblong teal eyes. Each of its arms is bulbous and round, containing its venom sacs. An upward pointing marking joins its eyes. The head, arms, two tail segments, and all four legs are light blue, while the body, tail end, and other two tail segments are a darker shade of blue. Some rare specimens are known to have a reddish tint.

History[edit]

Skorupi are known to dwell in marshes as well as deserts in the temperate region of Sinnoh. They typically lie in wait among the mud with their tails, which can pinch ankles and catch small prey. Its tail poison is relatively weak, but it can hold fast very well even if the prey flails. The weak poison usually stuns the prey, after which the skorupi then kills it with the stronger poison found in its stubby claws. Skorupi are also typical residents of deserts, as one may expect, and travelers had best be wary of their dens, which usually have a drapion lying in wait as well. Their size and their relatively nonthreatening appearance makes them popular models for plushes. People have likened them to trapinch, as both are small hunters in dry, arid areas. Their venom sacs were collected in ancient times to make weapons and tinctures, as well as antivenom. They were hard to catch so people eventually built the safari around their home for ease of access and observance.

Society[edit]

Skorupi are typically solitary hunters, lying in wait on their own. However, when herded by a drapion, they may come together to form a colony. These colonies can be deadly to stumble upon in the desert, as they can effectively paralyze a large creature with the sheer amount of venom from hundreds of their stingers and claws. They are very resilient creatures, able to survive for long periods without food. When not in colonies, they still do gather once a year for mating season, during which their tails will grasp each other tightly in an awkward embrace. Drapion grow up from the largest skorupis and are very rare. They watch over skorupi nests as heads of the colonies.

Skorupi Names[edit]

Some Skorupi are known to have Terran names. They make chittering noises so their names may sound to be repeating the same syllable a lot. These names are gender neutral.
