Shield of Throwing and Returning (5e Equipment)

Armor (shield), Legendary (major) (requires attunement) While Donning this shield, you gain a +3 to ac. This bonus is in addition to the shield's normal bonus to AC. This shield has the thrown (30/60) property and can be used to make a melee attack that deals 1d10 + your Strength modifier slashing damage. When you throw the shield towards a target, on hit, the target takes 1d10 + your Strength modifier slashing damage and if there is another enemy creature within 60 feet of the target, the shield bounces towards them. The creature the shield bounces to must make a Dexterity saving throw or take 1d10 + your Strength modifier slashing damage. The DC for this saving throw is equal to your attack roll minus 5. An object can be the target for this effect. This effect can be used more than once per throw, taking 5 from the attack roll each time, however you may not target the same creature more than once per throw. If the. If they are not within 30 feet of the last target, this save is made with advantage. After you throw the shield, the shield bounces back to its wielder no action required. You may don and doff this shield as free action, however if you do, you may not cast any spells with a casting time of one action until the beginning of your next turn. You may also not attack with any weapon other than the shield until the beginning of your next turn. If the weapon is thrown, it does not count as donned until you re-don it. The shield may only be destroyed by a creature attuned to it. The creature must willingly choose to destroy the shield.. in this case, the shield is no more durable than a wooden shield. The shield may not be forcefully unattuned from. The wielder may unattune from the shield as a free action. The creature attuned to the item can designate a creature to be "Worthy". This creature may choose to instantly attune to the item, as the item appears within their hand. |
