Shield of Flying (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Armor (shield), very rare (requires attunement) This kite shaped shield will protect you or carry you across the skies, whichever you prefer. As a bonus action, you can speak the shield's command word and cause it to animate. The shield leaps into the air and hovers in your space to protect you as if you were wielding it, leaving your hands free while still providing +2 AC. The shield remains animated for 8 hours, until you use a bonus action to end this effect, or until you die or become incapacitated. You regain use of this feature each dawn. If you try to get on top of it using 10ft of your movement or load something on it using an action, it will obediently get horizontal and let a medium or smaller creature (or similar size load) sit or stand on it, it will then follow mental commands to move. The shield will only obey the touch of the one attuned to it, otherwise it will just move to stay within touching distance of them. It has a flying speed of 50 feet. It can carry up to 400 pounds, but its flying speed becomes 30 feet while carrying over 300 pounds. The shield returns to vertical if you step off it and/or take off any load it is carrying. If separated from you while active the shield will always come flying back to you, if somehow it is separated more than 1 mile it will deactivate. The shield has a plain front that can be painted normally. When activated it sports a pair of little flapping (illusory) wings on the sides whose appearance can be decided by concentrating in a mental image while saying the command word to activate. |
