Shadow Beast (Transformation) (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Shadow Beast Transformations[edit]
One of the unique abilities of the Twilight Guard is the ability to transform into a creature of shadow. This transformation lasts up to 10 minutes. For the duration, your statistics are altered in the ways described for each form and you cannot wield weapons, cast spells, or perform actions that your Shadow Form would be unable to. Any equipment you are wearing or carrying is absorbed into your Shadow Form for the duration. You can exit your Shadow Form early as a bonus action, and it also ends early if you are knocked unconcious. When you transform, you gain the following features for the duration in addition to those of the transformation:
- Natural Armor. Your AC becomes 10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Constitution modifier.
- Type Change. You have two creature types: construct and beast. You are affected by a spell, effect, or ability if it would function on a creature that is either of your types.
- Bestial Endurance. You gain temporary hit points equal to your Constitution modifier which last until your transformation ends.
- Dark Flesh. You gain resistance to necrotic damage and vulnerablity to radiant damage.
- Languages. You can understand any languages you already knew, but cannot speak.
Shadow Wolfos[edit]
- Ability Score Increase. Your Strength score increases by 1, if doing so does not exceed your maximum score for that ability. Additionally, your Intelligence score decreases by 1.
- Fleet Foot. Your walking speed increases by 10 feet.
Actions[edit]
- Lunge. When making an unarmed attack, you can deal necrotic damage equal to 1d6 plus your Strength modifier instead of your normal damage.
- Lupine Dash. You can put the swiftness of your form to good use. When you take the Dash action, you can use a bonus action to attempt to grapple a creature within 5 feet of you as you move. If you succeed, the target is grappled by you, and you don't have to spend extra movement to move that creature until the end of your turn, if the target is your size or smaller.
Shadow Vermin[edit]
- Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 1, if doing so does not exceed your maximum score for that ability. Additionally, your Intelligence score decreases by 1.

- Sightless Senses. You gain blindsight out to a range of 15 feet.
- Gift of Shade: Your small size, odd shape and affinity for darkness allows you to pass unnoticed. You become proficient in the Stealth skill if you weren't already. While you are in dim light or darkness, you can take the Hide action as a bonus action.

On a hit, the target takes 1d4 necrotic damage and is grappled by you (Escape DC is equal to 8 plus your proficiency bonus and Dexterity modifier). You have two claws, each of which can grapple one creature.

- Grim Scream. You let loose a screech that terrifies all those around you. By expending 6 stamina or magic points, you can emit a piercing scream audible in a 60 foot radius. Each creature in that area that can hear the scream must make a Wisdom saving throw with a DC equal to 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. On a failed save, a creature takes 2d4 necrotic damage and is frightened for 1 minute. A creature that fails its save by 5 or more is also paralyzed for the same duration. An affected creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. On a successful save, a creature takes no damage and isn't frightened.
