Sel Reque Worshiper (3.5e Prestige Class)
From D&D Wiki
Sel Reque Worshiper[edit]
“ | My god is no different than yours; mine hates all the same people I do. | ” |
—Kruss, Half-Orc Sel Reque Worshiper |
The Sel Reque are not truly gods, they don’t even come from another plane. The Sel Recque are simply a rare race of extremely tiny magical creatures, however they do enjoy pretending to be in their own special pantheon of all powerful deities. Far too small to be seen by any non-magical means, they simply ride unnoticed on their followers and communicate with them telepathically. Of course a Sel Reque will never admit to this, they all claim to exist on a distant plane and watch their followers remotely. The arrogant Sel Reque do not age and cannot die by any known means, perhaps this has something to do with why they find the frequent deaths of all the very large creatures hysterical. The Sel Reque Worshipers are all too happy to make their deities laugh in exchange for their blessing.
Becoming a Sel Reque Worshiper[edit]
Visceral warriors can gain favor with these tiny deviants and their magical powers by pledging blood allegiance to them. Supplying plenty of blood and praising words, these pseudo-spiritual warriors fulfill their end of this symbiotic relationship.

Class Features[edit]
All of the following are class features of the Sel Reque Worshiper prestige class.
Blood Blessing: (Ex): Visceral killing excites the Sel Reque, so she blesses her Worshiper at 1st level with +2 attack bonus and +2 damage bonus for each creature he kills with any non-ranged weapon. At level 5, this blessing is doubled for a bonus of +4 attack and +4 damage per kill. This bonus expires at the end of the encounter.
Divine Knowledge: (Ex): At 1st level, the new deity will communicate relevant knowledge to the Worshiper telepathically. All checks may be made as if the Sel Reque Worshiper had Knowledge (any) 7 ranks, Listen 10 ranks, and Spot 10 ranks; no modifiers apply.
Petty God: (Ex): The Sel Reque are a petty race and really need to constantly be reassured how great they are. For one hour each day, the Worshiper must continually praise his deity. If interrupted he must begin the process again. If a day passes without this being performed, the Worshiper cannot use any class granted abilities until an hour long sacrifice is made.
Misdirection: (Sp): Upon attaining the 2nd level, the Sel Reque can use Mirror Image as a spell like ability on command of the Worshiper once each day. His total level is used to determine caster level for this spell.
Second Chance: (Ex): At 2nd level, the Sel Reque bless the Worshiper with greater luck in combat, allowing him to reroll 1 attack and 1 damage roll per encounter.
Jihad Blood Ritual: (Su): At 3rd level, a Sel Reque Worshiper may attempt to singlehandedly kill all present in a church (no less than six inhabitants) and then destroy it. This pleases the jealous mock deity, causing her to bless a non-ranged weapon of his choice with +1D6 damage. This effect only occurs while in the possession of the Worshiper. If the weapon is lost or destroyed, the ritual may be repeated.
Cannibal Blessing: (Sp): Upon attaining 4th level, the Sel Reque will tell the worshiper that eating his enemies will heal him in combat. In fact the mischievous god is just healing him, but she thinks it is funny to see him perform the task. The Worshiper must consume raw flesh from a recently slaughtered body for one full round to gain life as if Cure Critical Wounds with caster level equal to the Worshiper's total level. This may be performed once per body.
Bonus Feat: (Ex): When reaching 5th level, the bonus the Sel Reque teaches its Worshiper a bonus fighter feat, all other prerequisites must be met.
Ex-Sel Reque Worshipers[edit]
If a Worshiper loses favor with his god, he also loses all skills associated with the class except for the bonus feat obtained at level five. One could lose favor by a number of ways: Not praying, not killing for extended periods of time, becoming lawful, paying homage to another god, or even realizing the true nature of the Sel Reque before level five. A level five character is considered to have bonded enough with the Sel Reque that knowledge of its true nature no longer means it will depart. It will however still depart if the character tells anyone else the secret or fails to fulfill any of the other requirements.
Campaign Information[edit]
Playing a Sel Reque Worshiper[edit]
Combat: Sel Reque Worshipers are front line fighters who swing first and ask questions later. Their hack and slash style is augmented by their pseudo gods.
Advancement: Any non-lawful, non-religious head to head warrior class can work well in conjunction.
Resources: The Sel Reque are not an extremely social race, occasionally one will help another find a follower to help them pass the time, but they can go without speaking to each other for hundreds of years without notice. Typically bonded Sel Reque do not like their followers staying in proximity of each other for too long; after all the other guy is a heretic.
Sel Reque Worshiper in the World[edit]
“ | Oh my this is glorious! Now take out his entrails. Hehehehe! | ” |
—Kilea, Sel Reque Deity |
Due to the tastes of all Sel Reque, their worshipers tend to favor evil, but this is by no means a must. After all the deity is the final word on what is right and wrong for the worshiper, so even a good worshiper can believe his actions righteous, despite how cruel and bloodthirsty the intentions truly are. Those are two traits ubiquitous to all Sel Reque and Worshipers.
NPC Reactions: The Sel Reque worshipers are often looked down upon and dangerous cultist. This isn't far from true, but it is always a cult of one. These religious fanatics are rightfully mistrusted. No one, not even the worshiper, knows when his god will demand blood, and friendship is irrelevant. The only way "friends" of the Worshiper are kept safe, is by playing an active role in helping him find more victims.
Sel Reque Worshiper Lore[edit]
Characters with ranks in knowledge (religion) can research Sel Reque Worshipers to learn more about them. When a character makes a skill check, read or paraphrase the following, including information from lower DCs.
DC | Result |
---|---|
11 | A Sel Reque Worshiper is a deranged cultist. |
16 | Sel Reque Worshipers are warriors whose gods imbue them with power. |
21 | Each Sel Reque communes with only one worshiper. |
26 | Knows the various sacraments that the worshipers perform to their god (ie: pray daily, destroy churches, eat bodies etc.) |
Sel Reque Worshipers in the Game[edit]
As PCs, Worshipers adventure may travel alone or in a group, whatever provides them with the most action. If a Worshiper is within a party that is progressing too slowly, the DM may use the Sel Reque's blood lust to command the worshiper to take action within the group.
As NPCs, the Worshipers may be used as villains, friends of the party that are an aid in battle but constantly getting them in trouble everywhere else, or both.
