Seishin Kitsune are a merging of a fox-spirit with a human, usually done by a minor deity or powerful mage for some hidden reason. As such they are mostly human, the fox mentality suppressed until they've grown in power. The only powers granted them is the ability to change between human and fox, and some random magic.
Being mostly human Seishin Kitsune can be - and usually are - just like other humans, though often a bit paranoid about keeping their "affliction" secret.
Play a Seishin Kitsune if you want...
- To discover the effects of a unique bond between human and animal.
- To use your powers to fulfill a divine destiny.
- To be a member of a race that favors the Sorcerer and Wizard classes.
Physical Qualities[edit]
Normally just like a human; however, most seishin kitsune bear whisker-like marks on their face or more slit-like pupils. In hybrid form height and weight can be a little higher, in fox form length is 2-3' and weight about 20 lbs.
Playing a Seishin Kitsune[edit]
Completely campaign-dependent. Since Seishin Kitsune are created for some reason how to play them is completely dependent on how, why and where the character in question exists.
Seishin Kitsune Characteristics:
Male Names: Any human male names can be used, often a new suffix is added to the last name that correlates with the bonding process.
Female Names: Any human female names can be used, often a new suffix is added to the last name.
Seishin Kitsune Adventurers[edit]
Three sample Seishin Kitsune adventurers are described below.
Rufina of Dolszet (really Felicia of Eltiua) is a young noblewoman, a fugitive from a feud that killed her family. She lives under an assumed name with some distant relatives, working on getting the resources so she needs to get back at the people that killed her family. She hides her foxy side from all but her closest friends.
Rufina was "gifted" by the god of her nation as a backup weapon for a coming "war of the gods". The god has primed her to act as a dimensional portal that will throw his enemies out of the world when triggered.
Tamamo born as a black hair kitsune. Grew up with a debilitating wound in her right leg. Then one day a traveling priest came by and touched her wound instanly healing it and being able to fully walk again. Because of this, she devoted her life to her god that saved her from a life of lonely solitude wanting to help share the pure joy of the whole feeling when she got healed. Armed with her divine added weapon Ugrosh goes on to help stop a great evil in her world.
