Scarbuncle (5e Creature)
From D&D Wiki
Scarbuncle>[edit]
Large monstrosity, unaligned Armor Class 14 (natural armor)
Skills Perception +5, Stealth +5, Survival +5 Blistar Regrowth. The scarbuncle has sixteen blistars. Eight blistars regrow when the scarbuncle finishes a long rest. ACTIONSBite. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 5 ft, one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) piercing damage. Blistar. The scarbuncle removes a blistar (AC 12, 10 hit points, resistance to poison damage); it can then either place it within 5 feet or use a bonus action to throw it up to 60 feet. A creature that steps on a blistar or has one thrown at it must succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or have the blistar attach to the creature, taking 10 (2d6 + 3) piercing damage plus 13 (2d12) poison damage and becoming poisoned while the blistar remains; creatures poisoned this way have their movement speed halved. A creature can use its action to make a DC 14 Strength check, freeing itself or another creature within its reach on a success. Each failed check deals 5 (1d6 + 2) piercing damage plus 6 (1d12) poison damage to the trapped creature.

Bloated with symbiotic bacteria, this monster's swollen body steadily cultivates skin lesions that grow over with multiple layers of specialized tissue, developing into complex "blistars" with their own functional nervous web, muscular lattice and sharp, hollow teeth. Plucking these pseudoorganisms from its body, the scarbuncle utilizes them as deadly weaponry that it may hurl through the air or set as stationary traps. Once opened, a blistar reacts to any physical contact by violently contracting its lobes, forcing its toxic liquid contents through its teeth. |
