Saurids (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Saurids[edit]
Physical Description[edit]
Saurids are a diverse race of reptilian humanoids that come in 8 clans. They all have vastly different appearances based on their clan.
History[edit]
How Saurids came to be is unknown, all of them have their own myths as to their origins. What we know for sure is that they dominated in an era called the Hadean Era, where the planet was engulfed in magma and fire. Historical records from the Hadean Era are nonexistent with only oral legend remaining. The Hadean era ended with the Deluge, forcing the only survivors to escape underground for millions of years.
During this time they diversified into several of the clans we know today.
Eventually Saurians resurged once the oceans receded, finding many new species alongside humanity. They were disgusted by the existence of another sentient race and sought to exterminate the main hub of their civilization, Babel. They United under the Tyranno and attempted to conquer the world, however the people of Babel kept them at bay leading to their collapse and the splintered state they find themselves in today.

When the other Saurians emerged they called upon the Sobekids to run their navy, and they ran the navy quite well until the collapse of the Tyranno leaving the Sobekids to their own affairs.
Society[edit]
The Sobekid are a hedonistic society of pillaging raiders who dominate both maritime trade and warfare. They used to be a very frugal and virtuous society until one Sobekid named Sesheshet made an oath to enact the penance of all her race. Eventually this oath made her a martyr of their faith, becoming a figurehead of their religion and living a life of extreme isolation and temperance.
After the rise of Sesheshet their society slowly evolved towards hedonistic luxury, as Sesheshet has continued to live for another 400 years since. However not all Sobekids agree with this, still choosing to make oaths of virtue and temperance regardless.
