The heavy breathing had been getting louder as they traveled along the river bank. By now it seemed to be coming from all directions, but a scan of the area reveals nothing. Suddenly, the air seems to move and parts to reveal the glistening skin of a leaping Saurian.
Saurians are most often found laying in the sun at the edges of rivers or swimming within them. They look similar to large bipedal crocodiles, and often reach ten feet in length (though they continue to grow for the entirety of their life). They normally feed on fish and small animals, only attacking humans who trespass in their territory or threaten them.
Combat[edit]
Saurians are cowardly creatures that attack when they have the advantage. If a saurian begins losing a fight or has it's tail cut off, it tries to flee the battle.
Saurian Tail: A saurian's tail may be attacked as a separate creature. Saurian tails have 10 AC, 15 HP can only be attacked if the saurian is flanked. A saurian who loses his tail can no longer stand upright, losing his ability to wield his spear and his damage reduction.
Poison Spittle: A saurian may expend a standard action to spit poison at a range of 20'. Saurian poison deals 1d4 Strength/1d6 Dexterity damage.
Camouflage: A saurian that remains perfectly still for three rounds cannot be detected by non-magical means and is effectively invisible.
