Weapon (shortsword), legendary (requires attunement)

Ripper is a jet-black shortsword with a pommel in the shape of a skull with eerie red eyes. Those who hold the sword occasionally hear baleful moaning emanating from it.
You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. The weapon also functions as a manslayer and a sword of wounding. While you are attuned to Ripper, you are unwilling to part with it, always keeping it within arm's reach. You also have disadvantage on attack rolls made with weapons other than Ripper.
Sentience. Ripper is a sentient chaotic evil weapon with an Intelligence score of 16 (+3), a Wisdom score of 15 (+2), and a Charisma score of 17 (+3). The weapon can speak, read and understand Common, Dwarvish, Elvish, and Undercommon, and can communicate telepathically with its wielder. While you are attuned to it, Ripper understands all languages you know.
Personality. Ripper is harsh and cruel with a vicious sadistic streak that comes to the forefront during combat. Ripper goads those who wield it into committing crimes, though it is especially partial to violent crimes and theft. Ripper fancies itself a criminal mastermind, and vehemently objects to all claims that it isn't. Conflict arises during the next dawn if the wielder doesn't use Ripper to attack a living creature at least once every week.
