Ring of Mortality (5e Equipment)

Ring, very rare

On a mortal, this ring does nothing. If worn by an immortal that isn't a deity or immortal because of the influence of a plane, the ring becomes stuck on the wearer, burns them for 1D4 Fire damage, and makes them mortal until removed. If they die, or a spell that nullifies the ring's effects is used, the ring can be removed. This ring's magic is considered a curse, and therefore a 9th level greater restoration or a wish spell can end the effect.

Note: This item's relevance is unlikely, but is built as a possible tool for DMs trying to make a campaign in which a character (Such as a villain or player) is immortal. It could be used as a threat to the party, or a means of beating an immortal that is the party's enemy.
