Renamon (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Renamon[edit]
Physical Description[edit]
A bipedal creature bearing a passing resemblance to that of a fox. Their fur is predominantly yellow and white, though Renamon with different fur colorings do exist, most commonly with Renamon hybrids. They all usually wear gloves, with the yin-yang symbol engraved on them. Their tails are quite fluffy, and they possess some well kept fur fluff upon their chests. They possess tattoo-like markings under their eyes and on the front of their thighs.
History[edit]
The origin of their race is mostly unknown in the realms, but it is believed that they came from a world where everything is inorganic, and originally weren’t biological in nature. However, an event long ago involving powerful ritual magic allowed the early settlers in the realm to transition to that of flesh and blood. Why they chose to undergo such a transition is uncertain, but it is believed to have been caused by a life or death scenario with their race, which was in danger of dying out at the time.
This came with a price. The Renamon race once possessed the ability to shift into far more powerful forms, but in becoming biological, they no longer naturally possess this ability. However, they have long since adapted to the realms, learning the ways of magic and other such feats most races of the realm are attuned to.
For the most part, they were able to integrate into the realms without much fuss, slowly forming their own tribes in the colder regions of the lands. They manage to get by through being excellent hunters. What they kill is often used for food and/or trade with the other races.
Society[edit]
Renamon tend to be solitary beings outside of interacting with their own race. Most Renamon often live in small tribes in colder climates. Renamon often appear to be cold and distant, and within their society, those that tend to be on the more emotionally open side are often looked down upon, as flaunting one's emotions is seen as a weakness. However, this does not mean that they are cruel or incapable of feeling deeper emotions. A Renamon can feel as horribly hurt, as incredibly joyous, and as deeply passionate as any other race is capable of.
Renamon, however, will often go to great lengths to hide such feelings unless they are conversing with someone they truly trust and care for. In their society, sharing one's feelings with another is considered a deeply intimate act, and often only done in private. Because of this, Renamon rarely ever take on a partner outside of their own kind, as they are aware that most other races will not realize the significance of this act, and are likely to talk to others about it.
That said, it is not completely unheard of that Renamon will take on a partner outside of their race. Tabaxi are the most common, as they are one of the few races that they are biologically compatible with. Leonin is another race they are capable of having offspring with, but are much rarer than Tabaxi due to the scarcity of the Leonin race. They almost never become romantically involved with Humans or humanoid races like Elves and Dwarves, as they consider the species gap between them to be rather off putting. In settings using other fan-made races, they will usually tend to have an affinity towards other furred anthropomorphic races, with foxes, felines, and wolf-like races being more common than others.
If one has successfully managed to become a good friend to a Renamon, they will often become their most fierce and loyal companion, willing to follow them to the depths of hell if they have to. Conversely, if one incurs a Renamon’s wrath, they will find themselves with a wicked and dangerous foe, and will not stop being hunted until either they or the Renamon has passed on to the afterlife.
Prior to becoming flesh and blood, Renamon did not possess a gender. After the change, Renamon are predominantly born female, but born males of the species are not unheard of. In a rough estimate, the gender ratio is something akin to a 70/30% split.
Renamon Names[edit]
