Racial Rations (5e Equipment)

These rations taste like home. Only a creature of the appropriate race can gain the benefits of these rations. A creature retains the benefits of eating these rations until they spend a day without consuming any of their rations.
- Dragonborn Rations
Dragonborn rations consist of spiced rotisserie meat, crispy biscuits, roasted nuts, and roasted root vegetables. If a dragonborn subsists on these rations for at least one week, the damage dice of their Breath Weapon changes from d6’s to d8’s. (2 lbs.)
- Dwarven Rations
Dwarven rations consist of smoked sausages, salted meat, hard biscuits, and dried vegetables. If a dwarf or duergar subsists on these rations for at least one week, they can expend an extra hit die in addition to any others they have whenever they complete a short rest. (1 1/2 lbs.)
- Elven Rations
Elven rations consist of light bread with baked-in berries, herbs, and honey. If an elf, sea elf, half-elf, astral elf, shadar-kai or eladrin subsists on these rations for at least one week, they gain advantage on saving throws to resist exhaustion. (1 lbs.)
- Gnome Rations
Gnome rations consist of a plethora of preserves, jerkies, and pickles. If a gnome, kender, autognome, or deep gnome subsists on these rations for at least one week, they can add half their proficiency bonus to all saving throws that don’t already add their proficiency bonus. (1 lbs.)
- Halfling Rations
Halfling rations consist of sweetened, dried fruit; aged sausage; hard, sharp cheeses; honey cakes; and a mixture of roasted grains, nuts, and molasses. If a halfling subsists on these rations for at least one week, their hit point maximum increases by an amount equal to their Constitution modifier, with a minimum of 1. (1 1/2 lbs.)
- Human Rations
Human rations consist of a typical full-course meal; chicken wings, pasta, cheesecake, or some culinary mix of similiar proportion. If a human or igor subsists on these rations for at least one week, they may gain proficiency in one skill or weapon, or two languages. (2 lbs.)
- Orc Rations
Orc rations consist of coarse bread, leathery sausages, dried mystery meat, and pungent peppers. If an orc or half-orc subsists on these rations for at least one week, they double their proficiency bonus on all ability checks made to intimidate creatures. (2 lb.)
- Tiefling Rations
Tiefling rations consist of dough pouches filled with spicy meats or vegetables, pickled cabbage and/or eggs, and dried or fermented meat. If a tiefling subsists on these rations for at least one week, they can complete a long rest in 6 hours rather than 8 hours. (1 1/2 lb.)
Supplemental Rations
These rations apply to creatures not from the PHB but from other sources.
- Aarakocra Rations
Aarakocra rations consist of a plethora of seeds, nuts, and dried meats. If an aarakocra subsists on these rations for at least one week, they retain their flying speed even when wearing medium armor. (2 lbs.)
- Aasimar Rations
Aasimar rations consist of fluffy cakes covered with honey and nuts, soft cheese, and lightly spiced meats. If an aasimar subsists on these rations for at least one week, whenever they complete a short or long rest, they gain temporary hit points equal to their Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1). (1 1/2 lbs.)
- Aetherborn Rations
Aetherborn rations consist of bright and vibrant fruits, cut up and arranged into a decorative shape. If an aetherborn subsists on these rations for at least one week, they may create a throwable melee weapon or dart to throw. They may not use this item for melee damage, and dissipates after 1 turn in a spark of positive energy. This item does its base damage, plus radiant damage equal to the weeks subsisted. (1 lbs.)
- Aven Rations
Aven rations consist of a bowl of pasta, with large fish inside, molded into impromptu meatballs. If an aven subsists on these rations for at least one week, they may use their wings to attack as a move action an amount of times equal to the weeks subsisted, slicing at the opponent with damage equal to their unarmed strikes. (2 lbs.)
- Changeling Rations
Changeling rations consist of a rather unhealthy mass of gelato, colored or translucent. If a changeling, plasmoid or shifter subsists on these rations for at least one week, they gain the ability to morph into the Large size. (2 lbs.)
- Centaur Rations
Centaur rations consist of somewhat stale bread and old fruit. If a centaur or satyr subsists on these rations for at least one week, they get the ability to prance gracefully, rolling a Performance check against any viewer's Wisdom saving throw, only targeting one person. If the saving throw is failed, they are charmed for 1 minute in non-combat, or two rounds in combat. This may be used an amount of times equal to the subsister's proficiency bonus. (1 1/2 lbs.)
- Fairy Rations
Fairy rations consist of surplus greens from the Feywild, and tinkle with a faint enchantment magic. If a fairy subsists on these rations for at least one week, they may use their flight speed in any armor as heavy as your strength modifier times 5 in pounds, getting another fairy trait from the Fey Characteristics table as well. (1 lbs)
- Firbolg Rations
Firbolg rations consist of colorful mushrooms and mosses, nuts, and dried fruits. If a firbolg subsists on these rations for at least one week, they gain resistance to poison damage and have advantage on saving throws against poison. (1 lbs.)
- Genasi Rations
Genasi rations consist of a very pure or strong form of their element. For example, a fire genasi might get a blue flame. These are edible, and do not do damage. If a genasi subsists on these rations for at least one week, they may cast one spell once per long rest, the level being the weeks they subsisted on the rations for. that does their specific damage, added to the already existing spellcasting ability. (fire = fire, water = cold, earth = bludgeoning, air = slashing/thunder, 1 lbs.)
- Giff Rations
Giff rations consist of sliced cucumbers, zucchinis, eggplants, and any plant with the rotund shape. If a giff subsists on these rations for at least one week, they may wield two-handed weapons in one hand, OR treat the heavy property as the light property. (1 1/2 lbs.)
- Gith Rations
Gith rations consist of "really healthy" foods, such as bittermelon, chickpeas, and ginger, and a mindflayer's finger (if a githyanki). If a githzerai or githyanki subsist on these rations for at least one week, they can enter a state of enlightenment for a short period of time, getting advantage on all Wisdom and Intelligence saving throws and checks, and getting their intelligence and wisdom increased by 4 for 10 minutes. After, they suffer one point of exhaustion and must eat another Gith ration to use this ability again. (2 lbs.)
- Goblinoid Rations
Goblin rations consist of half-eaten corn cobs and carrots, dirty or moldy bread, and several organs of dubious origin. If a bugbear, goblin, or hobgoblin subsists on these rations for at least one week, their darkvision increases by a range of 30ft. (1 1/2 lbs.)
- Goliath Rations
Goliath rations consist of tough meats, crusty bread, and raw root vegetables. If a goliath subsists on these rations for at least one week, they are considered one size category larger for all intents and purposes (though their actual size is unchanged). (2 lbs.)
- Harengon Rations
Harengon rations consist of multiple variations of carrots and minor amounts of other vegetables. If a harengon subsists on these rations for at least one week, they may dash at triple the speed, or +1 to the speed multiplier if more. Additionally, the harengon speaks an amount of monstrous languages equal to the weeks they subsisted on these rations. (Sphinx, Giant Eagle, Bugbear, etc.) (1 1/2 lbs.)
- Hexblood Rations
Hexblood rations consist of a cursed, boiling flask of mysterious liquid, that fills you up somehow. If a hexblood subsists on these rations for at least one week, they may cast Wrathful Smite or Shield at will, the spell save DC being Charisma. <!-You heard me right!! Hexbloods get to drink acid!!->
- Hadozee Rations
Hadozee rations consist of edible plant stems and celery, roasted over an open fire and drizzled with sauce. If a hadozee subsists on these rations for at least one week, they may gain advantage on Charisma and Dexterity saving throws, and automatically succeeds any Performance or Acrobatics throw that has a DC equal or less than their Charisma and Dexterity modifiers multiplied.
- Kalashtar Rations
Kalashtar rations consists of a soft egg tart, covered with cream and diced fruit. If a kalashtar on subsists these rations for at least one week, they may cast Dream, only limited to communication and appearance. They may also cast Scry, but only limited to the dream realm. (2 lbs.)
- Kenku Rations
Kenku rations consist of a mixture of seeds and insect-infested meats and plants. If a kenku subsists on these rations for at least one week, they gain a 10ft. bonus to their movement speed. (1 1/2 lbs.)
- Khenra Rations
Khenra rations consist of strips of coconut and exotic meats, rolled into a cylindric shape. If a khenra and their twin both subsist on these rations for at least one week, they may use the Help and Ready actions as bonus actions. If the khenra is without a twin, then only the Ready action applies to this bonus. (1 lbs.)
- Kobold Rations
Kobold rations consist of bread scraps and crust, insects, and small mushrooms. If a kobold subsists on these rations for at least one week, they add twice their proficiency bonus to all saves against being frightened. (1 lbs.)
- Kor Rations
Kor rations consist of edible flower leaves and banana chunks, fried and spiced. If a kor subsists on these rations for at least one week, they may gain advantage on Strength and Dexterity saving throws, and automatically succeeds any Acrobatics or Athletics throw that has a DC equal or less than their Strength and Dexterity modifiers multiplied. (1 lbs.)
- Lizardfolk Rations
Lizardfolk rations consist of dirty, bloody, vermin meats. If a lizardfolk subsists on these rations for at least one week, once per turn their bite attack deals an additional 1d4 poison damage. (2 lbs.)
- Locathah Rations
Locathah rations consist of krill, dried seaweed, anchovies, and the occasional worm. If a locathah subsists on these rations for at least one week, they have full immunity against one of the resistances/advantages given from Leviathain's Will. (1 lbs.)
- Loxodon Rations
Loxodon rations consist of a mixture of cream cheese, tough meat, and a thin bubble-like cereal grain. If a loxodon subsists on these rations for at least one week, they may enter a raging state, getting advantage on all Strength and Constitution saving throwsand checks, and their Strength and Constitution scores increasing by 4. In return, the subsister loses the Loxodon Serenity and Keen Smell perks for the time they are eating the rations, and may only be salvaged if they stop eating the rations. (2 lbs.)
- Merfolk Rations
Merfolk rations consist of thin strips of sugarcane and seaweed, woven into a biscut-like shape. If a merfolk subsists on these rations for at least one week, they gain the traits of their other subrace (Green or Blue), or an a trait of another creed, depending on Merfolk variant. This bonus, like all others, is removed after one day of not eating the rations. (1 lbs.)
- Owlin Rations
Owlin rations consist of small bits of chewy and tough meat, and medicinal herbs. If a owling subsists on these rations for at least one week, they do not need to sleep, and automatically gain a long rest midday, whether they are fighting for their lives or reading a book. They also gain the ability to see dark in colors. (1 1/2 lbs.)
- Reborn Rations
Reborn rations consist of rotten hunks of vital tissue, seasoned with a condiment that has a texture and look of quicksilver. If a reborn subsists on these rations for at least one week, they gain temporary hit points equal to one third of their Constitution score whenever they kill a creature. (3 lbs.)
- Simic Hybrid Rations?
For the simic hybrid, there are no specific rations for it. Instead, it may use any one ration, but after eating it voluntarily, it may not have any other ration, regardless of whether it stops eating it or not. This may not be a skill-enhancing ration, such as Dragonborn Rations.
- Siren Rations
Siren rations consist of hardtack bread and fish jerky, both stale and hard. If a siren subsists on these rations for at least one week, they get a +40 ft bonus swim speed. (2 lbs.)
- Tabaxi Rations
Tabaxi rations consist of noodles in fish broth and dried fruits and meats. If a tabaxi subsists on these rations for at least one week, they are able to complete a short rest in half the time it would normally take. (1 1/2 lbs.)
- Tortle Rations
Tortle rations consist of whole melons, cantaloupes, and watermelons, enchanted with transmutation magic. If a tortle or thri-kreen subsists on these "rations" for at least one week, they may add custom modifications to their shell/carapace as if it was a shield, such as shield spikes, growing slim enough to remove their cover momentarily and reach towards it. (10-20 lbs.)
- Triton Rations
Triton rations consist of salted or pickled fish and dried seaweed crisps. If a triton subsists on these rations for at least one week, they gain advantage on Dexterity checks made to slip out of restraints or grapples. (2 lbs.)
- Vampiric Rations
Vampiric rations consist of spiced and seasoned apple slices, a red hue being both on the outside and inside. If a vampire or dhampir subsists on these rations for at least one week, they may learn one necromancy cantrip, but take 1d8 damage when casting it. The spell save DC for this, if lacking one already, is Wisdom. (2 lbs.)
- Vedalken Rations
Vedalken rations consist of burnt food, to the point where it looks and feels like coal. If a Vedalken subsists on these "rations" for one week, anyone they choose within a 30 ft. radius has their passive perception and perception decreased by 2. (3 lbs.)
- Warforged Rations
Warforged rations consist of unique metals, forged into a form similiar to crisps. If a warforged subsists on these rations for at least one week, they may heat up their unarmed strikes with d4 fire damage, the number of dice being equal to the weeks subsisted. (5 lbs.)
- Yuan-Ti Rations
Yuan-Ti rations consist of grilled vegetables and a thin layer of cheese. If a yuan-ti or naga subsists on these rations for at least one week, they gain advantage on Persuasion and Deception checks. (2 lbs.)
Homebrew Rations
These rations are for homebrew races. Use with discretion of your Dungeon Master.
- Aarongar Rations
Aarongar rations consist of raw slices of fish atop a mound of rice. If an aarongar subsists on these rations for at least one week, they gain a 40 foot walking speed and the ability to use the Dash action as a bonus action whilst underwater. (1 lbs.)
- Alraune Rations
Alraune rations consist of boiled vegetables inside of dumplings, with liquid-like sauce to dip. If an alraune subsists on these rations for at least one week, they may use their pollen like a launcher, instead using the effect in a 30 foot line. (1 lbs.)
- Celtic Rations
Celtic Rations consist of roasted meat and a side of wild and edible berries. If a celtic-born subsists on these rations for at least one week, they may choose another of their subclasses, and acquire the trait, not including the Ability Score Increase. (2 lbs.)
- Earthen Rations
Earthen rations consist of large hunks of vegetables on skewers, lightly pressed with salt. If an earth giant subsists on these rations for at least one week, they may choose one trait from the Earthen Might optional rule, and gain it. In the Elemental Plane of Earth itself, they may utilize Creation and Indomitable Presence, although the latter only includes creatures two times smaller than you. (5 lbs.)
- Embodied Rations
Embodied Mouther rations consist of a mixture of different cartilage, ground meats, and bone marrow. If an embodied mouther subsists on these rations for at least one week, the terrain 10 feet around them is counted as difficult terrain, save for allies and such. (3 lbs.)
- Kroot Rations
Kroot rations consist of dead "prey" animals, such as rabbit and deer, with an overwhelming amount of seasoning. If a kroot subsists on these rations for at least one week, they may use Eater of the Dead once per long rest, at any time. (varying lbs.)
- Nocturne Rations
Nocturne rations consist of mashed animal jerkies, seasoned with pepper and other spices. If a Nocturne subsists on these rations for at least one week, their Shadow Movement trait's maximum is instead raised to their entire movement speed bonus. (1 1/2 lbs.)
- Sobruaro Rations
Sobruaro rations consist of fried plants, peeled and arranged into a spiral-like shape, with a bowl of tortilla chips in the middle. If a sobruaro subsists on these rations for at least one week, they may become a royal sobruaro, increasing their size to large for 10 minutes, regenerating after a long rest. If they are already a royal sobruaro, they instead may shoot out spikes and pricks, dealing half their unarmed strike damage in a 10 foot radius around them. (1 lbs.)
