Races (Darenfell Supplement)

From D&D Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Choosing the race to represent your character is a large creative choice, and often the first that happens. In this case, it will represent your social standing in some ways, and in others it effects the way characters, regardless of social standing, perceive you, or even if they are receptive to conversation with you.

The world of Darenfell is a stringent, strict place that is oftentimes, racist and condescending to others. The world itself focuses largely on humans, with other races being extremely rare, to the point that some are thought widely to be extinct. As a member of another race, you may meet complications in the world in a large variety of different and challenging ways, that will be up to you to overcome.

Any race described in the Dungeon Masters handbook may be seen on Darenfell, even if some are far more rare than others.

Dominant Races[edit]

These races are the prominent, those that you will see commonly, and are more well recieved by the common folk of the World.

Humans[edit]

Arthanos sat heavily. The day had been long, and marching through the vast, sprawling sand dune of the Divide was worse than any farm work he had done in his time. That scorching sun he swore could cook anything if you just set it on a rock- no campfire needed. He glanced around at the other men who had been conscripted, and discovered that he seemed to be the best off from any of the ranks. Most likely from farming for most of his life, whereas some men were cobblers, carpenters, etc. This just goes to show the versatility of man. None were soldiers, but all would fight today.

Humanity is a young race compared to the others, but they spread fast- too fast. They are considered vermin by many of the other inhabitants of the world, especially after the Great Shattering, when they recovered faster than the other races, and spread themselves across the remaining inhabitable continent, leaving only the island of Qualinari for the Elves, and the deep mountains for the Dwarves. Even the mountains have been getting overrun by Humans, with them taking up residence in the fortress of Winter's Fist, in the Horncot mountains in the Southwest portion of the continent.

Despite being the dominant race of the continent, they are overwhelmingly average compared to the others. They are not particularly crafty or fast, like the Elves, nor are they particularly strong and smart, like the Dwarves. They are of slight stature, compared to Goliaths, and slight in the arms compared to the dwarves. They are not tall and Graceful as the elves, either. Ranging from approximately 5 feet tall to approximately 6 and a half feet tall, they perform decently in most areas, and are versatile, while not excelling in any one thing.

Elves[edit]

Aramonis lay lightly upon the bed of vines formed by the nature around him. Since he was young, he'd loved the island of Qualinari, and explored every inch of it. After doing so... He understood why the other elves loathed the Humans for taking over the continent, and leaving the elves stuck to living on this island. It felt so small compared the vast stories of Darenfell- even with its unparalleled darkness.
