Reckless. At the start of its turn, the qotaur can gain advantage on all melee weapon attack rolls it makes during that turn, but attack rolls against it have advantage until the start of its next turn.

Relentless (Recharges after a Short or Long Rest). If the qotaur takes 24 damage or less that would reduce it to 0 hit points, it is reduced to 1 hit point instead.

Sharp Plates. If the qotaur is hit with a melee attack from behind by a creature within 5 ft. of it, the attacker takes 7 (2d6) slashing damage. A creature can choose to maneuver their melee attacks around the plates at the start of their turn, but must make such attacks at disadvantage.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The qotaur makes three claw attacks. It may substitute two claw attacks for a tail attack but cannot make them against the same target.

Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 20 (2d12 + 7) slashing damage.

Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 33 (4d12 + 7) bludgeoning damage. If the target is a Huge or smaller creature, it must succeed a DC 18 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If the target is a Large or smaller creature, it is also pushed 15 ft. away from the qotaur on a failed save.

BONUS ACTIONS

Aggressive. The qotaur moves up to its speed toward a hostile creature that it can see.

Rampage. When the qotaur reduces a creature to 0 hit points with a melee attack on its turn, the qotaur moves up to half its speed and makes a claw attack.

REACTIONS

Unbridled Fury. In response to being hit by a melee attack, the qotaur can make one melee weapon attack with advantage against the attacker.

Surpassed only by adult titanosaurs in danger to their only predator, the qotaur (Brachypletron kratos) has taken the increased size of Archetiposaurs to an extreme, with the largest of bulls reaching 12 meters in length and 10 tons in mass. With huge muscles and long claws to bare, they are truly imposing animals.
Great Size Matters. A sister genus to Hystronyx, qotaur live in small herds of related cows defended by a single bull and are bruisers in every sense of the word. Despite their enormous size, they are still bipedal due to tremendously huge tail muscles, though the tail muscles that aid in the animal's speed are expended for those that aid in stability. Qotaur are not especially fast and are in fact two slow to flee zentaur when attacked, meaning fighting is their only recourse. Fortunately, qotaur are incredibly proficient in a brawl with both sexes being extremely aggressive and bulls especially being violent combatants. Though their feathers and quills are two small to be seen at a distanct, let alone provide defensive advantages in combat, their plates are quite large and sharp thus deterring rear attacks from zentaur, and bull qotaur are widely considered their most dangerous prey item short of adult titanosaurs.
This violence is not extended only to predators either, as qotaur are well documented using their savage claws on each other just as readily, as well as other species they compete with for food. Most notable in this category is the hukolgur, a giant ground sloth that shares a lot of niche overlap with the qotaur, being bulk feeders of terrain not overtaken by titanosaurs like highland forests, to the point were the two are incredibly hostile to each other on sight. There is some partitioning with regards to diet, as qotaur prefer to be high browsers and hukolgur need at least some grass in their diet, but their niches still overlap to such a degree that the species rarely allow the other to cohabitat. Generally, hukolgur are more common in Arvel and qotaur are more common in Ni'Khar where the two species respectively evolved, though the low sea levels 1.5 million years ago facilitated enough interchange between the continents that the two species still clash from time to time. It is clear though that regardless of the sloth's muscling in, the qotaur has provided substantial challenge in Ni'Khar and is here to stay.
