Ring, rare (Requires attunemnt by a spellcaster)

A simple silver etched iron ring given to novice mages who aren't adept at higher level magics in times of war. This ring has 3 charges which are regained at dawn. While attuned to this ring you gain the following benefits:

  • You can use the ring as a spellcasting focus for your spells.
  • You can try to cast a cantrip that you don't know by expending a charge. The cantrip must be on the wizard spell list, and you must make a DC 10 Intelligence (Arcana) check. If the check succeeds, you cast the spell. If the check fails, so does the spell, and the action used to cast the spell is wasted.
  • Your damaging cantrips affect even creatures that avoid the brunt of the effect. When a creature succeeds on a saving throw against your cantrip, the creature takes half the cantrip's damage (if any) but suffers no additional effect from the cantrip.
