Plantera (5e Creature)
Plantera[edit]
Huge plant, unaligned Armor Class 22 (natural armor)
Saving Throws Dex +6, Con +11, Int +5 Floral Guard. Plantera is guarded by her petals. As a bonus action, she can choose to drop this defense and reveal her inner jaws, decreasing her AC by 6 to 16, doubling all of her movement speeds, and exposing a swarm of snapping vine tendrils. At the start of each of Plantera's turns while these tendrils are released, each creature within 10 feet of her that she can see must succeed on a DC 19 Dexterity saving throw or take 7 (2d6) slashing damage. While her petals are enclosing her, Plantera doesn't have access to bite or spore attacks or her Tentacle legendary action. Her petals regrow after she completes a long rest. Jungle Hooks. Plantera holds herself up with long, clawed vines. If she is in a jungle or other space with places to hold, she can replace her climbing speed with an equal amount of flight. In any terrain, Plantera can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check. Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If Plantera fails a saving throw, she can choose to succeed instead. Magic Resistance. Plantera has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects. ACTIONSMultiattack. Plantera can use her Frightful Presence. She then makes one melee and two ranged attacks. Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +14 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (2d10 + 1) bludgeoning plus 12 (2d10 + 1) piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it is grappled (escape DC 18). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained, and Plantera can't bite another target. Frightful Presence. Each creature of Plantera's choice within 120 feet of her and aware of her must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature's saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to Plantera's Frightful Presence for the next 24 hours. Poison Seed. Ranged Weapon Attack: +12 to hit, range 150/600 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (2d4 + 3) piercing damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or be poisoned for 1 minute. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +12 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (3d10 + 2) bludgeoning damage. Spore. Ranged Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, range 30/120 ft., one target. Hit: 3 (1d4) bludgeoning damage plus 32 (5d12) poison damage. A creature that can see Plantera can use its reaction to make a melee against the spore (3 hit points, AC 13) before it hits. Thorn Ball (Recharge 5-6). Ranged Weapon Attack: +12 to hit, range 30/120 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (2d10 + 2) bludgeoning damage plus 13 (2d10 + 2) piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it must make a DC 18 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
LEGENDARY ACTIONSPlantera can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. Plantera regains spent legendary actions at the start of her turn. Attack. Plantera makes one poison seed attack. |
Plantera is a floral guardian who awakens rarely but whose reach spans entire jungles. Resembling a vibrant pink snapdragon wreathing in and suspended by dozen of swooping vines, her delicate beauty belies her nature as a powerful and fierce protector capable of easily tearing apart any who disrespect her domain. Hidden by her petals, Plantera has three leaf-like jaws edged with deadly spikes, and is able to generate a variety of specialized seedpods in combat to lob at her foes. These seeds are nonviable, unable to germinate it any condition, but Plantera is also able to produce spores, minute clones of herself, which latch on to the first surface they touch and quickly infest it with roots and thorny vines; on living creatures, the spore expires soon after. However, if it manages to survive to reach perfectly loamy soil, it will mature slowly but tenaciously into a glowing pink bud, sustained by the energy of the surrounding jungle as opposed to sunlight and thus capable of growth even in pitch-black caverns. These buds are incapable of defending themselves and can never finish growing on their own, but are inextricably linked to their mother; not only is each capable of summoning her from across the jungle if threatening, but they also contain a copy of her personality and memories. The eldest will metamorphize into a perfect copy of Plantera within days of her death. |
