Perseverance Soul[edit]

The Perseverance Soul class is defined by their exceptional endurance and determination. Characters who follow this path harness their perseverance to overcome extraordinary challenges and support those around them. Whether enduring through the toughest battles or standing firm against overwhelming odds, Perseverance adventurers embody the spirit of unwavering resolve.

Making a Perseverance Soul[edit]

Abilities: The most important attributes for this class are Constitution and Wisdom, reflecting their physical resilience and mental fortitude.

Races: Any

Alignment: Any

Starting Gold: 1d12x10 gp.

Starting Age: The normal age for this class should be Moderate (such as a fighter). This ensures the character has had sufficient experience to master their abilities. Alternatively, younger characters may apply the simple age modifier (such as a rogue).

Class Features[edit]

All of the following are class features of the Perseverance Soul.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Perseverance Souls are proficient with all types of armor and can use any weapon.

Enduring Strike (Ex): This feature grants the Perseverance Soul a +2 bonus to attack rolls when attacking a foe while having fewer hit points than them.

Resilient Heart (Su): Once per day at 1st level, when the Perseverance Soul faces a fear effect, they can ignore it and gain a +2 bonus to attack rolls and saving throws for 1 minute. At level 5, this ability can be used twice per day, and the bonus increases to +4. At level 10, this ability can be used three times per day, and the bonus increases to +6. At level 15, this ability can be used four times per day, and at level 20, this ability can be used five times per day, and the bonus increases to +8.

Perseverance Manifestation (Su): At 3rd level, the Perseverance Soul can manifest a weapon made of pure perseverance. They can choose between a Perseverance Sword or a Perseverance Axe. The Perseverance Sword lasts for 2 minutes and deals 1d8 slashing damage. The Perseverance Axe lasts for 2 minutes and deals 1d10 slashing damage. The character can maintain concentration to sustain the manifestation, and they can dismiss it as a bonus action.

Unyielding Charge (Ex): At 4th level, the Perseverance Soul can charge through difficult terrain without penalty and gains a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls during the charge.

Determined Shield (Ex): At 5th level, the Perseverance Soul gains a +2 bonus to their AC and all saving throws when fighting defensively or using the total defense action.

Unstoppable Will (Ex): At 6th level, the Perseverance Soul becomes immune to mind-affecting effects, including charms and compulsions.

Indomitable Resilience (Ex): At 7th level, the Perseverance Soul gains DR 5/-, reflecting their unyielding toughness. This damage reduction increases to DR 10/- at 14th level.

Steadfast Leader (Ex): At 9th level, the Perseverance Soul can inspire allies within 30 feet, granting them a +2 morale bonus on attack rolls, saving throws, and skill checks for 1 minute. This ability can be used once per day.

Unbreakable Inspiration (Su): At 10th level, the Perseverance Soul's determination can inspire allies to continue fighting. Allies within 30 feet who are reduced to 0 hit points or lower can continue to act for 1 round as if they were disabled (only taking a single move or standard action each round).

Ironheart (Ex): At 12th level, the Perseverance Soul gains the ability to survive lethal damage. Once per day, if the Perseverance Soul is reduced to 0 hit points or lower, they can remain conscious and act normally for 1 round per level.

Soul Resonance (Su): At 13th level, the Perseverance Soul can resonate with the souls of allies, providing a +2 bonus to attack rolls, saving throws, and skill checks for 1 minute. This ability can be used once per day and again at 17th and 19th level.

Unyielding Stand (Ex): At 15th level, the Perseverance Soul can take a stand against overwhelming odds. For 1 minute, they gain a +4 bonus to AC, attack rolls, and damage rolls and are immune to being frightened or panicked. This ability can be used once per day.

Unyielding Presence (Su): At 20th level, the Perseverance Soul's mere presence bolsters allies. Allies within 30 feet gain a +4 morale bonus on attack rolls, saving throws, and skill checks, and they can ignore fear effects.

Bonus Feats: At 2nd level and every four levels thereafter, the Perseverance Soul gains a bonus feat chosen from the list of fighter bonus feats.

Ex-Perseverance Souls[edit]

A Perseverance Soul who ceases to uphold their core tenets of resilience and determination, or who willingly succumbs to fear, may lose their class abilities. Redemption through acts of courage and unwavering determination can restore their abilities, subject to the DM's discretion.

Epic Perseverance Soul[edit]

The path of the Perseverance Soul can extend beyond the standard 20 levels. As epic characters, Perseverance Souls continue to grow in resilience and determination.

Hit Die: d10.

Skill Points at Each Additional Level: 4 + Int modifier.

Bonus Feats: The epic Perseverance Soul gains a bonus feat (selected from the list of epic Perseverance Soul bonus feats) at 21st level and every three levels thereafter.

Epic Perseverance Soul Bonus Feat List: Armor Skin, Damage Reduction, Energy Resistance, Epic Toughness, Epic Will, Fast Healing, Improved Combat Reflexes, Legendary Wrestler, Tenacious Spirit, Unyielding Heart.

Resilient Heart (Su): Continues to increase in power, providing additional uses and bonuses at higher levels.

Playing a Perseverance Soul[edit]

Religion: Perseverance Souls often revere deities of endurance, strength, and protection. They are drawn to gods who embody the spirit of overcoming adversity and supporting others through challenges.

Other Classes: Perseverance Souls get along well with fighters, paladins, clerics, and monks—those who understand the importance of resilience and determination. They may clash with characters who act recklessly or lack a sense of purpose.

Combat: In combat, a Perseverance Soul is often at the forefront, enduring attacks and providing morale support to allies. Their abilities make them hard to bring down, and they can turn the tide of battle with their unwavering presence.

Advancement: Perseverance Souls should focus on improving their Constitution and Wisdom to maximize their resilience and the effectiveness of their class features. Feats that enhance durability, such as Toughness or Iron Will, are also beneficial.

Perseverance Souls in the World[edit]

Daily Life: A Perseverance Soul's life is filled with challenges, both self-imposed and external. They train rigorously to enhance their endurance and often seek out difficult tasks to prove their resilience.

Organizations: Perseverance Souls may form or join orders dedicated to protecting the weak and standing firm against evil. They are often found in groups that value endurance and mutual support.

NPC Reactions: NPCs typically view Perseverance Souls with respect and admiration. Their unwavering determination and ability to endure hardships inspire those around them.

Perseverance Soul Lore[edit]

Characters with ranks in Knowledge (local) or Knowledge (history) can research Perseverance Souls to learn more about them.

DC 10: Perseverance Souls are known for their unyielding spirit and ability to withstand incredible hardships.

DC 15: Perseverance Souls can manifest weapons made of pure determination and inspire their allies in battle.

DC 20: In legends, the most powerful Perseverance Souls can stand firm against overwhelming odds, becoming almost unstoppable.

Perseverance Souls in the Game[edit]

Adaptation: The Perseverance Soul class can be adapted to fit various campaign settings by adjusting their abilities to reflect the world's themes and challenges.

Encounters: Players might encounter Perseverance Souls as steadfast allies or formidable opponents who will not back down from a fight.
