Oortz (4e Deity)
Chaotic Evil
Domains: Torment, Tyranny
Warpriest Domain: Vengeance
Oortz is one of the dark forces of the Old World Pantheon. Locally, he was known in Toryu as Uzuki or Kune-Kune[1]. He is the sworn nemesis of Yue. His powers are mainly in the mental realm, as he can drive people insane with a single glance. With this iron fist, he rules silently over his maddened cult of worshipers who dare not look their deity in the eye. He has a hatred for creatures he cannot rule and so his followers are instructed to kill the blind among other things:
- Pain is living. Oortz gives us pain and life.
- Fear that which cannot be hurt, because we are one through hurting together.
- Under pain, under Oortz, we become one.
Description[edit]
Sometimes known as the Pale Prince, Oortz is commonly depicted as a pale, skinny humanoid with black eyes. However, some have taken artistic liberty to show a more grotesque picture. It is chanted among his followers how he lives as and replaces their "inside." Some have interpreted this as Oortz accumulating the souls of those who follow him. They grow from his body like extra limbs and heads, all forming his likeness. They are all one, and they are all Oortz.
During the Gorge, Oortz was one of the casualties as Graghk devoured the world and half the gods in existence.
Powers[edit]
What makes Oortz fearsome is his power of vision, like that of a medusa. However, instead of turning people into stone, it is said his dark gaze can drive one insane as well as steal their soul. In both cases, the body is left behind and begins writhing in a grotesque fashion as though being tortured, kind of like a worm on the ground with its head cut off. His followers therefore force prisoners to gaze upon his artifacts which channel his gaze as torture, and they themselves must wear covers over their eyes so as to not succumb.

Heralds and Allies[edit]
In the Toryu pantheon, Oortz is joined by allies like Ushi, who also revels in the pain of others and tormenting souls.
In the overall Old World pantheon, Oortz is considered one of the Four Deeds, alongside Quthok, Espera and Cahafel.
