Ogerpon[edit]

"It's really you... The real-life ogre... Wowzers... You're really something!"
—Kieran upon meeting Ogerpon for the first time, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Teal Mask

Physical Description[edit]

Ogerpon and its many masks

Ogerpon are predominantly green, humanoid creatures. Their green torso is spotted with white flowers and yellow dots, and they are capable of extending green and black vines of ivy. Their long legs are black in the front and white in the back, and their two-toed feet each have two green leaves sprouting between the toes. Their torso is mostly covered by a large, green, multicolored cloak-like structure that extends from a stem on top of their head. This cloak frames its face with a large, black, thorny vine, the two uppermost thorns resembling horns. While the cloak's sleeves move as if Ogerpon has arms beneath them, they actually have no arms or even shoulders; the cloak itself is prehensile and serves as their arms, with the "sleeves" able to grasp and manipulate objects. Ogerpon can also extend a prehensile branch and vine from their torso. Ogerpon have an orange face, yellow eyes with white, star-shaped pupils and small green leaves at the edges that loosely resemble eyelashes, a three-pointed leaf that serves as hair, small black markings on their eyebrows and cheeks, and two pointed fangs in their upper jaw. Their face is usually hidden behind a masks, and the cloak changes color depending on the mask they wear.

Although there is no solid proof of this, rumor has it that Ogerpon can have green faces instead of orange, but most assume this is a mistake by the eyewitnesses claiming it as most of Ogerpon's body is green when wearing a certain mask.

History[edit]

While it is unknown where Ogerpon originated from, they were first sighted in the eastern land of Kitakami. According to legend, she was brought to the land by a foreigner, and the villagers of Kitakami were terrified of them due to the fact they looked ugly and scary in their eyes. They barred the two from going anywhere near the village, so the little ogre and her companion took refuge in a cave in a nearby mountain, happy and content with each other's company. One villager, however, took pity on the foreigners and made several masks for the two to wear, adorned with gems he found in another faraway land, which allowed them to mingle with he villagers.

Secretly, the two would join in on the village festivals, and they became the talk of the town due to the brilliance of their masks. Rumors the townsfolk spread about this mysterious pair and their masks drew the attention of greedy creatures, also from a faraway and unknown land, who attacked Ogerpon's companion and made off with three of the masks. Ogerpon, finding her companion missing, donned the remaining mask and rushed into the village, cudgel in hand, hoping to find him. She found the trio of thieves gloating over their ill gotten gains, and she proceeded to kill them. The villagers had no idea what was going on, so they assumed the thieves were actually heroes trying to fend off the enraged ogre that in their eyes was trying to attack the village. Ogerpon, weakened, fled back to the mountain cave where she remained for centuries, alone.

The villagers came to venerate the thieves, whom they named the "Loyal Three" and feared the ogre that resided in the nearby mountain. However, one day many centuries later, a student from the faraway land of Paldea arrived and would not only earn the friendship of the ogre, but with the help of some local teenagers would uncover the truth about what actually happened so long ago.

Society[edit]

Ogerpon society is an unknown subject, as no one knows where Ogerpon came from and the only place that has any re corded sighting of them is Kitakami. However, given that this one exhibits a mischievous and even childlike disposition along with the fact it spent much time with a human companion, it is clear that they can get along with humanoid races just fine.

Ogerpon Names[edit]

The only known Ogerpon to have existed was female, so they take female names.
