Oath of Embers, Revised[edit]
Paladin Oath
- Tenets of Embers
Paladins who take this oath commit to wielding the relentless and consuming power of fire to dominate and cleanse:
Ignite the Will to Rule Your victories must not only defeat but demoralize. Let your fiery wrath burn so fiercely that it engulfs the courage and hope of your foes.
Enforce with Blazing Authority Upon your fiery conquest, tolerate no resistance. Your decrees shall burn away dissent, and those who follow shall be warmed by your strength; those who resist shall be incinerated.
Fire Reigns Supreme You will rule as long as your flame burns the brightest. Should another flame challenge yours, you must blaze even hotter or be extinguished.
- Oath Spells
You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed.
Paladin Level | Spells |
---|---|
3rd | burning hands, searing smite |
5th | flame blade, scorching ray |
9th | fireball, fire arrows |
13th | fire shield, wall of fire |
17th | immolation, flame strike |
- Channel Divinity
When taking this oath at 3rd level, these options emphasize the thematic use of fire and dominance:
- Scorching Presence: As an action, you force each creature of your choice that you can see within 30 feet to make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, a creature is frightened and takes 1d4 fire damage each turn for 1 minute. They can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of their turns, ending the effect on a success.
- Blazing Accuracy: When you make an attack roll, you can use your Channel Divinity to add a burst of flame to your strike, granting you a +10 bonus to the roll.
- Aura of Flames
Starting at 7th level, your very presence scorches the air. This aura extends 10 feet from you in every direction, but not through total cover. If a creature is frightened of you, its speed is reduced to 0 while in the aura, and that creature takes fire damage equal to half your paladin level if it starts its turn there.
At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 60 feet.
- Scorching Rebuke
Beginning at 15th level, those who strike you will suffer the vengeance of the flames. Whenever a creature hits you with an attack, that creature takes fire damage equal to half your paladin level if you're not incapacitated.
- Savior of Flame
At 20th level, you can transform into a being of pure fire and fury. As an action, you gain the following benefits for 1 minute:
- regain 1d4 hit points start of each turn
- When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can make one additional attack as part of that action.
- Your melee weapon attacks ignite the target, dealing additional fire damage equal to your Paladin level.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
