The Epitome of the End[edit]
Nurgle, also known as The Grandfather or The Lord of Plague, is considered the oldest of his kin known as the Gods of Chaos. He is the god of Death and Disease, but also Finality and Sloth. He is willed unto existence by the fear of death that all sentient beings carry and the desperate cries of those brought low by disease. He is nicknamed "The Grandfather" due to the fact that he treats his followers in the same manner that a grandfather treats his grandchildren, giving his followers gifts in the form of new plagues and poxes to spread across the realms. It is a common saying that "Nurgle always loves you", as all being rot and die, and he gives his followers peace of mind knowing that they will all join him in his Garden of Pestilence.
The Fetid Garden[edit]
Nurgle resides within the Warp, but more specifically the Garden of Nurgle. The Garden is a place of unfathomable rotted and pallid flesh and bone, each inch of it all covered in maggots and disease-filled pustules. In the center of the garden lies Nurgle, stirring a rusty chamber pot where he makes his horrific gifts. Besides him is the imprisoned Eldar goddess of healing Isha, where Nurgle force feeds her his fetid stew to test the potency of its sickening power.
The Armies of Pestilence[edit]
Nurgle is most often depicted as massive, obese, and rotten humanoid reminiscent of a Great Unclean One. Nurgle, along with the other Chaos Gods, do not have physical forms, and therefore cannot exist within the material planes. His greater daemons are the aforementioned Great Unclean Ones, along with Rotflies, Poxwalkers, and Beasts of Nurgle comprising lower forces.
The Opposition to Stagnation[edit]
Nurgle hates and is hated the most by Tzeentch, the god of Magic and Lies, who represesnts Change. Khorne, god of Blood and Combat, and Slaanesh, God of Excess and Torture, are relative neutral towards Nurgle. All four Chaos Gods war with each other in the Great Game of Dominance even more than they fight the denizens of the Material Planes, so no god is truly neutral.
The Children of the Fly Lord[edit]
There are many cults dedicated to Nurgle, however they all fall under "The Church of the Fly Lord". Followers of the church will begin to rot and become sick, yet feel no pain or need to rest. They become bloated and nearly immune to all forms of physical damage, as their rotten, fatty flesh simply rusts swords and axes to an unusable state. Worthy followers can ascend to demon-hood and gain the ability to return to life after being slain and gain grotesque powers from The Grandfather.
