Mr. Watchtower (3.5e NPC)
From D&D Wiki
Background[edit]
Childhood[edit]
A bastard child of a raped elven priestess. His mother took her own life shortly after he was born as she couldn't bear the curse that her god bestowed upon her with such a hideous child. Misshapen and disgusting by even half-orc standards he was found by a roaming group of orcs who picked up the child to sell into slavery. A member of a group called "The Watchers" just happened to be there looking for children that were outcast by society, the ones that wouldn't be missed.
The Watchers[edit]
In a blink of an eye, the child's fate pulled a complete 180. From being an outcast without a home, he turned into a favored member in a close-knit family. He was issued the same uniform that everyone was made to wear, a magic meta-material that tapped into and bound itself to their life force, strengthening their weak and underdeveloped body. Throughout the years, the children chose their favored weapon and were given names based on their strength. To the misshapen child of an elven priestess came a bow and the name of Mr. Watchtower. Contracts were forged out of the same material that was bound to their life force and on the day of the signing of the contracts, the children were issued specialty weapons.
Mr. Watchtower walked into the room with his master and a woman dressed in dark clothing with his contract on the table and a finely crafted wooden box. He signed as all other children did and his master opened the box next to him. Inside was a very finely crafted oak bow of highest quality. He picked it up and it fit perfectly into his fingers as if it had been made for him long ago.
"My name is Elizibeth Greenwell. You are too accompany me."
"Yes, my lady."
A contract signed[edit]
His will was bound to hers Ever since he signed the contract. "Till Death" was the term. He started out as being a silent guardian to this noble lady who he could never picture hurting anyone. As he fulfilled his duty, he became more and more vested in making the contract last as long as possible. He had been on the task for quite a while before he found out about her illegal activity. It didn't matter to him. He was legaly, and emotionaly bound to her. Her will was his.

Warp Arrow (Sp): | Mr. Watchtower is able to warp an arrow to any location he knows (He has to have been there or seen it first hand to be able to pinpoint it). Once an arrow has been fired, and it clears the bow, a small rift will open big enough for just the arrow to pass into. At this same time, another rift will open anywhere Mr. Watchtower chooses (Limited to locations he can pinpoint) and the arrow will exit this rift loosing no speed, mass (this includes effects such as poisons, or additional piercing power due to admantite tips, ect.) or magical effects placed on the arrow. If something is attached to the arrow (Example: Rope) when it is shot though the rift, the object will remain on the arrow, but should the object not pass through the rift completely by the time the arrow is completely though, the rift will close on the object severing it at the base ofthe arrow. There is no restriction on distances that Mr. Watchtower can warp his arrows. This ability cannot be combined with Feats that increase the amount of arrows fired. Reflex save (To Hit vs Reflex) for no damage. |
Mind Bending Arrow (Ex) | Mr. Watchtower is able to add his Intelligence modifier to any damage caused by standard arrows that are either shot normally or warped to their target. This additional damage is counted as a psychic attack for purposes of damage reduction. This ability cannot be combined with any other ability except Warp Arrow. |
Enhance Arrow (Su): | Every non magical arrow Mr. Watchtower nocks and lets fly becomes magical, gaining a +5 enhancement bonus. Unlike magic weapons created by normal means, Mr. Watchtower need not spend experience points or gold pieces to accomplish this task. However, Mr. Watchtower's magic arrows only function for him. This ability cannot be combined with any other ability except Warp Arrow. |
Seeker Arrow (Sp): | Mr. Watchtower can launch an arrow once per day at a target known to him within range, and the arrow travels to the target, even around corners. Only an unavoidable obstacle or the limit of the arrow’s range prevents the arrow’s flight. This ability negates cover and concealment modifiers, but otherwise the attack is rolled normally. Using this ability is a standard action (and shooting the arrow is part of the action). This ability cannot be combined with any other abilities or Feats that increase the amount of arrows fired. |
Hail of Arrows (Sp): | In lieu of his regular attack, once per day Mr. Watchtower can warp an arrow to each and every target within range. Each attack uses Mr. Watchtower's attack bonus, and each enemy may only be targeted by a single arrow. This ability cannot be combined with any other ability except Warp Arrow. |
Arrow of Death (Sp): | Mr. Watchtower can create an arrow of death that forces the target, if damaged by the arrow’s attack, to make a DC 20 Fortitude save or be slain immediately. It takes one day to make an arrow of death, and the arrow only functions for Mr. Watchtower. The arrow of death lasts no longer than one year, and Mr.Watchtower can only have one such arrow in existence at a time. This ability cannot be combined with any other abilities or Feats that increase the amount of arrows fired. |
Exploding Arrow (Sp): | Mr. Watchtower can create an explosive arrow twice per day. The arrow deals normal damage, but if the shot kills the target, the arrow absorbs his life force through the wound, glows white, then explodes dealing the targets maximum amount of hp in damage to everything within 10 feet (DC 15 Reflex negates). It takes 30 seconds to create an explosive arrow, and the arrow only functions for Mr. Watchtower. the exploding arrow lasts no longer than 1 day and Mr. Watchtower may only have one such arrow in existence at a time. This ability cannot be combined with any other abilities except Warp Arrow. |
Paralizing Arrow (Ex): | Mr. Watchtower can target an enemies vulnerable points to paralyze threats for 1d4 rounds at a penalty of -10 to hit (DC 20 Fortitude negates). Damage done is normal. this ability cannot be used in combination with Seeker Arrow, Hail of Arrows, Arrow of Death, or Exploding Arrow. This ability may only be used once per turn and must be declared before the arrow is fired. |

The man, crouched in a rafters looked over the lady below him, diligently working on her projects, his bow always at full draw. He looked outside between the small slits in the wood. There was nothing out there at the time, but nothing would get by him. His life was on lease to the woman below, to fail her would be worse than death as she was a necromancer.
His keen Elven ears heard a slight noise outside and he looked out between the cracks again to see a mob of guardsmen making their way to the gear house where they were hiding. They looked as if they were in no mood to talk. He readied the lethal arrows on his bow.
The door busted into a thousand pieces of wood the guards rushed in and shouted "Elizibeth Greenwell, you are under arrest!"
"Am I?" She asked as she turned around to look at them, brushing her hair off to the side.
That was his signal. The blue rune flared up on his forehead as he let his first arrow fly in to the biggest guard he saw.
The arrow found its mark and the guard went down, cold."
The remaining guards drew their swords and scattered. Some rushed the lady, others hid behind the large rotating cogs. A few screams were heard as some of the gaurds slipped into the cogs and were turned into a red stain on the large gears.
The man drew his bow again and let another arrow fly. A small blue hole in the air opened and let the arrow slip inside. He watched as the arrow came out of a hole and penetrated into another guard. He went down. The arrow glowed white and exploded, knocking a gear off its mount and sending it rolling across the room killing more guards.
"Where is he?!" The guards shouted to one another.
The man knocked several arrows on his bow at once, drew back and let them fly again. Once again a blue hole opened in the air in front of the arrows. The arrows flew in and several small blue holes opened around the room, sending an arrow into each remaining guard.
The impaled guards laid on the ground in pain.
The woman looked up at him. "Good job. But we must be off."
The man jumped down and stood concealed in his clothes well over a foot taller than her. "Yes, my lady," he said as they slipped into the night.
