Mountain Cat[edit]

"The Tribe and the Clans are like two trees that have grown around each other. Both are strong, and they are intertwined, but each has its own future. Still, the Clan cats will always be welcomed by the Tribe."

— Stoneteller

Physical Description[edit]

Mountain Cats are mostly smaller and leaner than Clan cats (wild house cats), and smear their fur with mud to camouflage them, blending in with the rocks.

Two Groups[edit]

The mountain cats are divided into two groups: tribe and rogue. The tribe of Rushing Water is a clan like group of cats that have been on the mountains for ages. The rogues are a group of cats that came to the mountain in recent times. They secretly learn from the tribe cats on how to live in the mountains.

History[edit]

Tribe was the first to arrive to these mountains in the ancient days. They stayed their even after a famine forced to set a group of cats away. They stayed when the four clans cats visit them during the great migration. The Tribe has survived from the new comers of a group of rogues. The Tribe will continue on survive on the mountains for ages.

The rogues arrived in the mountain in the recent times due to being driven away from their old home. They stayed with the friendly tribe for a few weeks. Seeing the plentiful food and weak tribe cats, they decided to stay on the mountain. They have made several attempts to drive the tribe off the mountain. Despite being better at combat, Tribe cats have the advantage of home turf, numbers, and the help of clan cats which are well known to be excellent fighters.

Society[edit]

Cats of the Tribe are divided into several categories: to-bes, cave-guards, prey-hunters, kit-mothers, kits, elders, and the Healer. In addition, when the Healer feels it's necessary, they will pick a Healer to-be that will take their place once they pass. The Healer is both the medicine cat and leader that does not leave the cave. Cats can also stay with the Tribe for a while, and then leave.

It is currently unknown how the rogue group operates. Most likely like any rogue groups, the strongest cat is the leader. They have no medicine cat. They don't care for the elders.

Religious beliefs[edit]

The Tribe of Endless Hunting is comprised of the spirits of the ancestors of the Tribe of Rushing Water. They send warnings and signs to the Tribe healer and will show them which to-be should train to become the next healer They are the equivalent of clan cats of StarClan.

Tribe cats believe in an afterlife similar to the Clan cats. The ancestral spirits that make up the Tribe of Endless Hunting are similar to those that make up StarClan. The Tribe of Rushing Water contacts their ancestors every full moon in a ceremony called the Telling. This occurs in the Cave of Pointed Stones. Unlike the Moonpool, the Tribe of Endless Hunting contacts the living cats through omens and not dreams.

The group of rogue cats have no belief system.

Mountain Cat Names[edit]

Kit-mothers name their kits after the first thing they see after the birth of their kits. It is usually 4 to 6 words long. Tribe cats shorten their names. Rogues on the other hand have no naming convention.
