Saving Throws Str +16, Dex +14, Con +17, Int +7, Wis +11 Magic Resistance. The mawloc has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects. Inscrutable. The mawloc is immune to any effect that would sense its emotions or read its thoughts, as well as any divination spell that it refuses. Wisdom (Insight) checks made to ascertain the mawloc's intentions or sincerity have disadvantage. Sure-Footed. The mawloc has advantage on Strength and Dexterity saving throws made against effects that would knock it prone. Synaptic Web. Using telepathy, the mawloc can magically communicate with any other tyranid within 120 feet of it. Tunneler. The mawloc can burrow through solid rock at half its burrow speed and leaves a 10-foot-diameter tunnel in its wake. ACTIONSMultiattack. The mawloc makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its tail. It can use its Swallow instead of its bite. Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +16 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 27 (4d8 + 9) piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it is grappled (escape DC 20). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained, and the mawloc can't bite another target. Tail. Melee Weapon Attack. +16 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit. 35 (4d12 + 9) bludgeoning damage. Hit or Miss: The mawloc chooses one creature it can see within 5 feet of the target. That creature must succeed on a DC 20 Dexterity saving throw or take 13 (2d12) bludgeoning damage. Swallow. The mawloc makes one bite attack against a Large or smaller creature it is grappling. If the attack hits, the target takes the bite's damage, the target is swallowed, and the grapple ends. While swallowed, the creature is blinded and restrained, it has total cover against attacks and other effects outside the mawloc, and it takes 42 (12d6) acid damage at the start of each of the mawloc's turns.
LEGENDARY ACTIONSThe mawloc can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. A mawloc is a huge, worm-like tyranid organism that acts as an outrider for a tyranid swarm. They are burrowing creatures that travel deep underground to bypass enemy defences and then emerge behind enemy lines to run rampant through supply lines, command posts, or artillery batteries, only to vanish back underground to evade retaliation. Severe earth tremors are the only warning of a mawloc attack. |
