Frightful Manifestation[edit]

Devil-Horde.png
A horde of devils who've manifested, source [1]

You are a living embodiment of fear, and your very presence disturbs those who encounter you. Your contract with a human or group of humans grants you a degree of control over them and the world around you. Your influence manifests in subtle ways—whether through nightmares, whispers, or the ability to incite fear. You can choose to hide or reveal your true nature, but in either case, you exude a presence that unnerves those nearby.

Skill Proficiencies: History and Survival.

Knowledge of Self[edit]

As devil made out of fears of a concept, you naturally know quite a lot about yourself. You have advantage on checks to recall information relating to your feared concept.

Suggested Characteristics[edit]

d8 Personality Trait
1 I think Devils are inherently superior to humans.
2 I prey on the weak.
3 I think the power I hold is unstoppable.
4 I act as my demonic nature tells me to.
5 As a devil, you rarely show emotion. You’ve grown accustomed to manipulating or controlling others, and often, you view human relationships as tools for your purposes.
6 I want to remain alone.
7 You thrive in an environment of disorder. Structure and routine make you uneasy, and you prefer the unpredictable, the terrifying, and the unknown.
8 You know how to manipulate people’s emotions, using charm, wit, and intimidation to get what you want. You can easily talk your way into—or out of—trouble, using promises of power or fear to sway others.
d4 Ideal
1 Survival. I live to survive, anything else. (Neutral)
2 Freedom. I will not be constrained by any rules or bounds. The world is my playground, and I will shape it as I see fit. (Chaotic)
3 Power. I seek to amass more power. The more I consume, the stronger I become. Fear is only one way to control; strength is the only language that matters. (Evil)
4 Tasty. I'll eat everything I can. (Any)
d4 Bond
1 Despite my nature as a devil, there’s a deep fear within me that I must confront. Perhaps it’s a weakness that makes me vulnerable, or an enemy I fear confronting. Either way, I must face it eventually.
2 There are others like me, and not all devils are allies. I have a sworn enemy, a rival whose power and ambitions mirror my own. The conflict between us is inevitable.
3 I'll protect the things I value.
4 I owe my existence to the human who formed a pact with me. I would do anything to protect them—or to use them to further my own goals.
d4 Flaw
1 I believe my power is unmatched. I often underestimate my enemies or make reckless decisions because I believe I can always manipulate the outcome in my favor.
2 I like killing for fun.
3 Despite being the embodiment of fear itself, I am still bound by my own fears. A specific Devil haunts me, and I do anything to avoid confronting it.
4 I follow my instincts no matter what they are.
