Description[edit]
Formerly the pride of the ogre space fleets, since the fall of ogre power some of these vessels have begun to see service under human and mind flayer control. Whoever their masters, these fearsome ships form the backbone of any fleet they find themselves in. They are broad and powerful, with a massive frame and pair of tusk-like rams that together give the vessel its name.
Ship Uses[edit]
Warship: Ogres in battle cram hundreds of warriors onto these ships, disregarding any attempt to maintain fresh air in it. In this configuration, most of the cargo space is used to host 500-600 warriors, though the maximum is 788. These ships also usually carry 3-6 Blades lashed beneath the hull to utilize in boarding actions.
Slaver: Mind flayers particularly like the Mammoth for its large cargo hold and enclosed decks, making it perfect for transporting large quantities of slaves without undue suspicion. Such ships are sometimes fitted with series helms or pool helms like those found in other illithid vessels.
Raider: Prized by any pirates that manage to get their hands on them, Mammoths nevertheless prove difficult to fully staff with sailors of fortune. Thus, several such vessels are undermanned and rely on intimidation to resolve conflicts.
