Madness is Genius (5e Feat)
From D&D Wiki
Madness is Genius
Prerequisites: Madness, or a broken mind
Your mind pulsates with unknown knowledge and bubbles indecipherable insanity, trying to burst out of your head like dynamite. You get the following benefits:
- Increase your Intelligence score by 1, to a maximum of 20.
- As a downtime activity you may spend hours equal to your proficiency bonus minus 8, scrawling your ravings onto any surface or parchment, using whatever you find to be appropriate ink. This creates madness scrolls, or madness thoughts if you wrote these on a surface, equal to your intelligence bonus. There difference is minimal, but you forget the thoughts after 1 day, taking 2d6 psychic damage when it happens. Scrolls, however, are permanent until used, or if the scroll itself is lost.
- As an action or bonus action you can use one of your madness scrolls to gain advantage on any Intelligence-based roll, alongside any Medicine roll. (Nature, Investigation, etc). If you are a spellcaster, you may use these for spellcasting, adding +2 to your spell save DC for the spell.
- You may also recite these madness scrolls to anyone else, rolling a d12. On a 12, they get resistance to psychic damage and get one mad scroll for the day, On a 1, they get a short term madness effect. Any other number results in them simply ignoring you for your “imperfections”. However, if the person you are reciting to also has madness, they get the positive d12 effect without rolling.
- You gain the flaw "My skull aches and burns with brilliant half-baked ideas that crave to break out of my head. I need to let them out to end my suffering." This may either be added to your list of flaws or replace one, as the wisdom you have boils your brain to the core.
