Lunarii[edit]
“ | The moon is a beautiful place. Would that I could show you its gleaming majesty... | ” |
Physical Description[edit]
Lunarii are exotic humanoids with bluish, pale skin. They usually stand anywhere from 5-7 feet tall, with males being smaller than females. Their skin tones can range from blues, greens, purples, and yellows. They have bright, vibrant eyes that glow in the dark. These eyes do not have set parts delineating their irises or pupils, giving them a very ethereal feel. Lunarii tend to be slender and curvy. They have very tiny waists and full hips, and females usually have busts. They have four arms, with the top set extending past their knees. The lower set is shorter, reaching mid-thigh. They also have a long thin tail, which flares out at the end like a fish's. Natural intricate markings wrap around their arms like tattoos, starting from their eyes down to their fingertips. Most people regard them as beautiful creatures like a mermaid or siren.
History[edit]
The lunarii are said to have descended from a being so beautiful she could only have come from the moon. It is believed that was Getsu, an aspect of the lunar goddess of the orient. Her beauty intoxicated many to lay with her, and she bore many children who spread her special moon blood. People speculate she was perhaps a demon or fey in actuality, as her offspring sport such odd features. Thus, lunarii have had a complicated past with how they are viewed and treated. Some believe them to be demons in disguise, while others believe they are omens of good luck. Their alluring nature ultimately helped them spread beyond their home of origin.
Society[edit]
Lunarii prefer to live mostly underground in their homemade cave systems, with a large meadow not far from the entrance. Sometimes these caves will also be aboveground, usually situated in a mountain or something. They prefer it in the ground and the entrances to these warrens will often look a little like moon craters. The moon is present in most facets of their lives, and they worship Tsukiyomi, a goddess from their home of origin. She was allegedly the original lunar god of whom Getsu was an aspect of.
They are rather timid and more comfortable among their own, but some have struck out before. Lunarii, even when traveling tend to avoid people of all races due to their shy nature. If confronted, they are usually very peaceful. Some are so reclusive that they usually only are seen at night. They're very shy and quiet, not the type to enjoy being around those not of their own race. They have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. However, their shy reclusiveness causes an internal war within themselves. Those that overcome their fear of the outer societies will typically leave home and become nomads, constantly searching for any and all forms of knowledge to bring home to their underground villages. Besides their unquenchable thirst for knowledge, lunarii also tend to fall easily into depression.
