Physical Description[edit]

Final Fantasy XIV Online

The Lalafell are a folk both rotund and diminutive. Small by any race's standards and possessed of a childlike countenance, it proves difficult for non-Lalafell to gauge an individual's age with any degree of accuracy. Originally an agricultural people inhabiting the fertile islands of the south seas, they found their way to Eorzea via the burgeoning trade routes. Lalafell are welcoming of outsiders, and share prosperous relations with all of the other races of Eorzea. The nimble Lalafell make up for their lack of physical strength with swift reflexes and sharpness of mind. They are one of the most well-established races in the realm and are found in great numbers in nearly every city.

History[edit]

The Lalafell descend from an agrarian people native to the fertile islands of the south seas. Gradually, they migrated to Eorzea over the years in pursuit of trade. They traveled across the boundless waters in catamaran-like ships unique to their civilization.

Culture[edit]

Though they place great importance on familial bonds, the Lalafell are not exclusionary. They maintain cordial relations with the other races, and have achieved much success as traders and merchants as a result. Their business-minded nature can lead them to be perceived as greedy and calculating, but few can truly dislike the Lalafell due to their inherently bright and jovial nature. The scarf is a common fixture of traditional Lalafellin garb, serving the practical function of allowing them to stand out above their modest stature by waving it as a signal flag on the high seas or vast deserts. They favor loose-fitting garments that conceal their naturally rotund builds.

Their distinct hair coloration - a myriad of earthy and grassy tones - helps them to blend in well with their environment, acting as an effective camouflage against would-be attackers. Many live the life of farmers, it is not uncommon to see Plainsfolk holding positions in the navy or working in the fisheries. They are well known for their relaxed and carefree demeanor. Dunesfolk[edit]

The Dunesfolk can be found on the scorching sands and other such arid areas. They are famous for their obsession with commerce. A natural inclination to transform ideas into action has served the Dunesfolk well in their business dealings. Perhaps the most unique characteristic of the Dunesfolk is their luminous eyes - a result of a glossy, protective layer which covers the pupil, an evolutionary response to their homeland's glaring sunlight. They are adamant about scholasticism, placing the advancement of knowledge before all else. Other races tend to perceive male Dunesfolk as introverts who care more for books, business, and the prosperity than the goings-on of the rest of the realm. Ability Score Increase. Alleyfolk[edit]

Alleyfolk live in the forests, having cat ears and a cat tail. Most Alleyfolk are dark shades of color in order to blend in to the forest. Lapinfolk[edit]

Very wary, skittish, and shy, the Lapinfolk reside in lush meadows and fields being more with one with nature and tend to only stick to their own kind. Their long rabbit ears and cute rabbit tails are what tell them apart from the rest. Much like a rabbit, their body changes the color in order to blend in better with the season.(Example: Brown during Summer and Fall and White during Winter and Spring) The changing of color of their body is most likely from evolution to help deal with the conditions they live in. Much like how rabbits live, Lapinfolk often live in burrows they make in the ground in order to help live in nature. Ability Score Increase. Your Strength and Dexterity scores increases by 1.

Rascalfolk[edit]

These mischievous natured Lalafells like the forest as much as a town or crowded city. They love to play tricks on people. Their tricks are usually harmless but they can take it a bit far. They are easily told apart from other Lalafells by the large fox ears on their heads along with a fox tail. Their hair, ear, and tail color range in red, white, brown, or something in between, but a select few have been able to change color depending on the season like the Lapinfolk. Majority of Lalafells look down on Rascalfolk since their tricks and theiving nature has often got them in trouble by the other Lalafell subraces and other races as well. Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma score increases by 2.
