Honorable, graceful and deadly, the Kyoshi warriors hone their battle prowess in respect to a fallen hero. The original Kyoshi vanquished a warlord that threatened her home, and inspired by this hero, some people took to emulating Kyoshi's approach to battle. They pledge themselves to defend the defenseless and stand up to oppressive forces. Focussed in Body. The ceremonial attire of a Kyoshi warrior mimics what their idol wore during their victory In particular, the face paint is worn to focus the mind of the warrior and intimidate enemies. During its application, the warrior focuses their tenacity and the virtues they uphold. The white paint shows their readiness to visit evil upon wrongdoers, and the red over the eye represents honour, loyalty, and heroism. It is a grievous offence for an uninitiated person to imitate a warrior. Patient in Offense. The Kyoshi warriors' approach to battle is unusual in that they let their opponent's own momentum be their downfall. They prefer to let their opponent come to them, disheartening them by embarrassment, and encouraging them to surrender. They would always rather capture an enemy and have them face justice than fight to the death. As an AntagonistAs noble protectors, Kyoshi warriors are the perfect tools to bring lawless player characters to justice. Consider using them to capture PCs that have stolen frequently, intimidated townsfolk, or who otherwise need a wakeup call to the consequences of their actions. They might also challenge warriors that don't meet their ideals. They may seek to prove the superiority of their ideology over other ways of life. As an AllyThese loyal and honorable warriors are perfect for giving a settlement a more interesting or powerful town guard. Alternatively, you can make a settlement based around training warriors in this style, such as a militaristic monastery or academy. |
