Kryptonian[edit]

"In this world, there is right and there is wrong...And that distinction is not difficult to make. The powers we have...The things we do...They're meant to inspire ordinary citizens...Not intimidate them...Not terrify them."- Kal-El of Krypton

Many know the famous story of Kal-El, the Superman of Earth that sought refuge on Earth but became its protector. Fewer know of the countless other Kryptonians who traveled across the heavens on missions of conquest and exploration prior to the destruction of the planet, or of the other Kryptonians that may have escaped Krypton to other worlds. This race, best coupled with the 'Kryptonian' class allows players to role play one such character.

Physical Description[edit]

Members of the dominant species of the planet Krypton are indistinguishable from humans in terms of their appearance; their physiology and genetics, however, are vastly different- Kryptonians are difficult to clone because their DNA is so complex that human science is not advanced enough to decipher it. The cellular structure of Kryptonians allows for solar energy to be absorbed in extremely high levels. On the planet Krypton, whose parent star has often been depicted as an ancient red supergiant with relatively low energy output, their natural abilities were the same as humans. When exposed to a young yellow star like Earth's Sun, which is much smaller than their own sun and with vastly higher energy output, their bodies are able to absorb and process so much energy that it eventually manifests as vast superhuman powers.

Kryptonians have a physical appearance considered beautiful by other races; they have naturally dense physiology that results in a naturally chiseled and muscular physique. In addition, they are tall with bright gleaming eyes and pale ethereal skin. Such is their standing amongst races that recognize them that they are generally greeted with respect or admiration immediately and are often called upon to mediate disagreements between other races. Others, however, view the Kryptonians as proud or even arrogant and are secretly hateful of the celestial visitors.

History[edit]

Kryptonians were once a proud and decadent society reminiscent of the Roman Empire close to its fall. Krypton had an Empire that spanned far beyond its own world based on advanced technology and the slave labor of clones. However a revolutionary war sparked by an alien presence resulted in the death of all clones and as a result, Krypton retreated into itself. Its government became distrustful and insular, banning all but a few sanctioned missions off-world. An unstable planet core would later lead to the destruction of Krypton and the death of any Kryptonian who had not escaped the planet.

Society[edit]

The average citizen of Krypton led a life of luxury and decadence, supported by robotic servants and other technological advancements.

Kryptonians are allocated a role in society based on their genetics and aptitude; the three pillars of Kryptonian society were the Science Council, the Military and the Government (who also acted as heads of the justice system). Kryptonians who became members of these guilds were often treated with additional levels of respect and renown, some achieving fame or infamy for their actions.
