Physical Description[edit]

Kecleon is a bipedal, reptilian Pokémon that is usually green. It is also known to possess other color variations, like purple. There are also blue, red, and brown variants. Kecleon's skin is able to naturally change color, so the default base color is not always clear. Depending on the base, its secondary color on its frills and stripes will also differ. On either side of its head are frills, which are connected by lines to its lips and rings around its eyes. There are small fin-like ridges on its shoulders and a zigzag stripe around its midsection. This stripe is the only part of kecleon that does not have the ability to color change. The hands and feet have three short digits each. Kecleon also has a long skinny tail that is usually curled tightly in a spiral.

Kecleon is able to change the colors of its body at will and is known for frequently using this ability to camouflage itself, except for the stripe on its belly. This is due to the different pigmentation cells on the rest of its skin versus that stripe. Kecleon's color also changes based on its mood and health, darkening in color with better health and turning pale when sick. By using camouflage to appear almost invisible, it can sneak up on prey and ensnare it with its long pink tongue. This tongue is notably sticky.

History[edit]

Kecleon historically are native to the Hoenn region, though they can also be found in the Johto region. Living primary within forests, kecleon are ambush hunters. They have been known to cause trouble for travelers that walk into obstacles where there seem to be none, or tripping over what looks to be nothing there. These are usually the work of the mischievous kecleon, who use their powers of disguise to fool around when they aren't hunting. Kecleon are also known to be merchants to many pokemon towns. They usually are known to buy wares from adventurers, though some are known to venture into dungeons and such themselves.

Society[edit]

Kecleon are usually found as transplants in mixed societies of pokemon. They are often in the roles of merchants in many towns. Pure kecleon villages are rare and hidden. Being difficult to find, barely anyone knows where they originate. Most speculate it to be in the north forests of the Hoenn region, near Fortree. There, they live among the trees in small family units, honing their craft of stealth. They are prone to travel and collect rare and valuable items to sell. Some are more just up to cure their wanderlust. Others want to make a quick buck or two. Some kecleon that pride themselves as expert merchants can spend days on end in dungeons and sometimes even open up shops inside them, making oases for adventurers.

Kecleon Names[edit]

In general, the names of kecleon reflect their chameleon properties. Some like to even change their name based on their color changes, and may be known by different names in different towns. Some keep only one alias to better spread their fame as a trader, with hopes of becoming a household name. These names do not tend to be gendered, and it is not a very important aspect to kecleon names in general. Their names do, however, like to employ fun and lilts of humor.
