Kasatha (5e Race)
Kasatha[edit]
According to stories of old, Kasathans come from a distant realm that orbited a dying star. The four-armed Kasathas maintain a reputation as a noble and mysterious race; they are famous for their anachronistic warriors, ancient wisdom, and strange traditions.
Please note that is is a translation to 5e from the original Pathfinder 1st Edition/Starfinder race of the same name. Some information has been changed, edited and/or added to fit a more D&D-esk world, plus I included some of my own minor changes due to my personal preference. I cannot guarantee that this translation to 5e will be balanced and will fit in with your D&D Campaign. I ask of you to not edit this page, as it is a Work In Progress
Physical Description[edit]
Kasathas are a humanoid race that are widely recognized by their four arms, enlongated skull, and covering of their mouth. The skin of a Kasatha ranges from dulled shades of brown, tan and yellow; grey shades tinged with brown, yellow and green; to shades of ivory white and rarely, shades of bright blue. Unlike other humanoid species, Kasathans lack a protruding nose and ears; as well, their skull is enlongated past that of what is considered 'normal' for most humanoid species; markings will sometimes also be painted or tattooed onto the skull of a Kasathan as a form of body modification. The eyes of a Kasatha will always have dark-coloured sclera with similarly dark irises that give off an illusion of a Kasatha having solid-coloured eyes.
The mouth of a Kasatha will almost always be covered due to cultural reasons, which has lead to debate about how the mouth of a Kasatha looks like; in reality, it resembles that of a normal humanoid race mouth. Kasathas have four arms, with their second set of arms being positioned slightly lower down from their top set; as well, a Kasatha will not only have a dominant hand, but also a dominant set of arms. While considered lean compared to other humanoid races, the muscle fibers of a Kasatha have evolved to grant the race a surprising dexterity. Lastly, there are no physical differences between the two Kasathan sexes, minus genitalia and the fact that Kasathas born with the ability to give birth develop mammary tissue during pregnancy, and will slowly absorb said tissue back into their body around the time a child begins to ween off milk.
History[edit]
Kasathas evolved on Kasath, a distant realm that resembled a desert that orbited a dying star. While they knew their home would eventually be destroyed by this dying star, tradition kept them from entertaining the idea of finding a new place to grow their roots until an event known as the Reckoning would take place. During this event,

Kasatha Names[edit]
Kasathans have no concept of gender, meaning that names aren't bound to a gender. Kasatha go by their first names, though their full names always encompass additional names denoting parentage, clan or subclan, relation to the Great Families of Kasath, and connection to historical heroes; it’s not uncommon for a Kasatha's full name to include half a dozen such elements. For instance, a Kasatha who introduces himself as Isu might properly be named “Isu Cocretia Qaru Maras of Clan Tarma, House Hadulan, soul-splinter of the line of Ru.”
