Ixpatil is the name of the subterranean realm that lies below Lozor. It is a vast and little-known place to most off the island nation. In history, it was the first Lozorian emperor, Sukan, who established first contact with this place and secured an alliance with the strange insectoid dragon creatures that dwelled there. It is believed that this realm is a place created by the goddess Resoolt, as a gift of reconciliation to Tarekaya. Some theories hold that the insectoid dragon species were a prototypical creation of the dragon goddess, but divided into 10 parts because she could not put them together cohesively. Thus, they were left in Ixpatil where they resided in secret until contact was established.

Creation Myth[edit]

The generally accepted myth of Ixpatil's creation is that Resoolt originally created two very powerful and monstrous insect dragons. She hid them underground beneath Lozor. The two creatures, however, made such a ruckus that Tarekaya quickly took notice. She was disgusted at the two creatures and sought to smite them. When she struck one down, she saw that the other began to grieve and wail. It awoke pity in her heart and she spared the remaining creation of Resoolt. To soothe the remaining insect dragon's grief, Tarekaya divided it into 10 different creatures and turned the dead dragon's body into the innards of Ixpatil, lining the underground caverns created from their ruckus. To this day, the dead insect dragon's remains imbue Ixpatil with protection from various threats and even magics while the 10 descendants of the living insect dragon live within.
