Hoplite (5e Feat)
From D&D Wiki
Hoplite
Prerequisites: proficiency with shields and at least one of the following: lance, pike, or spear
provides synergy when using a shield with a lance, pike, or spear
As an experienced infantryman, you've mastered the art of fighting in phalanx-style combat. You gain the following benefits:
- At the start of your turn, you can choose to reduce your speed to 5 feet. Until the end of your turn, your movement does not provoke opportunity attacks while you have a shield equipped. You may not gain further movement on a turn you have used this ability.
- While not mounted, you may wield a lance or pike using a single hand. While doing so, the weapon's damage die becomes 1d8. While wielding a pike this way, you have disadvantage when you use it to attack a target within 5 feet of you.
- While wielding a spear one-handed, the spear gains the reach property.
