High Strength with Thrown Weapons (5e Variant Rule)
From D&D Wiki
High Strength with Thrown Weapons[edit]
Following the RAW, characters can only throw weapons the same distance, whether they're a scrawny elf with a Strength score of 8 or a hulking strongman with a Strength of 24. Some may find this a bit silly. As a fix, you may wish to increase the distance characters can throw weapons with the throwing property if they have a high Strength score. The same multiplier applies to the distance that you can throw grenades or grenade-like items.
- Characters with a Strength of 14 or less can throw weapons the distance as written. For example, a dagger has the thrown (20/60) property in your hands, and a javelin has the thrown (30/120) property.
- Characters with a Strength of 15-19 can throw weapons 50% further than normal. For example, a dagger has the thrown (30/90) property in your hands, and a javelin has the thrown (45/180) property.
- Characters with a Strength of 20-24 can throw weapons 100% further than normal. For example, a dagger has the thrown (40/120) property in your hands, and a javelin has the thrown (60/240) property.
- Characters with a Strength of 25-29 can throw weapons 150% further than normal. For example, a dagger has the thrown (50/150) property in your hands, and a javelin has the thrown (75/300) property.
- Characters with a Strength of 30 can throw weapons 200% further than normal. For example, a dagger has the thrown (60/180) property in your hands, and a javelin has the thrown (90/360) property.
