Helm of Korminor (3.5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Helm of Korminor: This Horned Full Helm is made entirely of Platinum. It has two large horns, one on either side. It has no mouth opening, and where the eyes holes should be there is Dark Red Lenses.
This helm contains small, but complex magical devices that translates auditory input, granting him a +5 competence bonus to Listen Checks. This helm also provides the wearer with pure breathable air as the spell Water Breathing. Even when taken to any airless environment it retains air within it at all times, continually renewing its contents. This helm is also inlaid with a small, but complex magical device containing multiple lens fixtures that translates optical input to a better suited form. The lenses allows the wearer of this helm to see underwater, enabling to see five times farther than water and light conditions would allow for normal human vision. (Weeds, obstructions, and the like block vision in the usual manner.) It expands his visual abilities, granting him a +10 competence bonus to Spot Checks and Search Checks. While worn, the wearer can choose between different modes of vision as a swift action however only Darkvision Mode can be used in tandem with one of the other modes at a time.
Darkvision Mode - This mode allows the wearer to see as if they had the extraordinary ability of Darkvision Mode of 60ft and immunity to the vision-impairing effects of any spell with the Darkness descriptor; as such, the wearer treats any such created area of magical darkness as normal darkness with one exception: instead of consisting of gray tones ranging from black to white, the field of vision becomes red tinted.
Magic Detection Mode - This mode allows the wearer to see as if affected by the Detect Magic spell out to 40ft.
X-Ray Vision Mode - This mode grants the wearer the ability to see into and through solid matter as if wearing a Ring of X-Ray Vision. Vision range is 20 feet, with the viewer seeing as if he were looking at something in normal light even if there is no illumination. X-ray vision can penetrate 6 feet of stone, 6 inches of common metal, or up to 9 feet of wood or dirt. Thicker substances or a thin sheet of lead blocks the vision. The degree of penetration can be controlled by the wearer at will. Unlike a Ring of X-Ray Vision, the X-Ray Lens can be used for an indefinite time period without causing exhaustion; however, while using the X-Ray Lens, the user temporarily loses 2 points of Constitution, but the loss lasts only until the user changes lenses at which time the loss is fully restored.
Life Mode - This mode grants the wearer the ability to detect and pinpoint living beings and undead out to 40ft. This lens does not detect constructs or golems unless they have living parts within them. Living beings and undead appear to have a yellow aura around them when viewed through this lens. This aura can be seen through walls but only the aura is seen; beings and undead cannot be identified, nor can items be identified through walls with this effect.
Poison Detection Mode - This mode grants the wearer the ability to detect poison as if under the effects of a Detect Poison spell with the exception that the exact poison can be identified with a Alchemy skill check with a DC of 20. The wearer get a +5 to Alchemy skill bonus and are enabled to make the check even if the wearer has no ranks. This effect can penetrate barriers, but 3 feet of stone, 3 inches of common metal, a thin sheet of lead, or 6 feet of wood or dirt blocks it. Additionally, when this helm comes within 40ft. of a poison source, this source receives a noticeable green aura.
Gore Attack: The Horns on the helm enable the wearer to perform a gore attack albeit at a -5 to hit and deals 2d4 piercing damage. If used in a charge attack, the wearer adds two times there strength bonus.
