Half-Breeds Variant[edit]

Reasons[edit]

Has one of your players ever wanted to be able to breed with an orc even though they are an elf? This variant is a system to allow for the modifiers and skills of both while still being balanced.

This results in an orc-elf baby.

Description[edit]

  • You get all of the ability modifiers.
  • The baby receives both types and subtypes.
  • The size is chosen by getting the middle of the sizes of both parents, if this is not a size (the parents are Large and Medium sized, ect.) then roll 50% to see if it is the larger or smaller size.
  • Speed is averaged and rounded to nearest 10.
  • Vision abilities are averaged.
  • 50% chance to get an ability that one parent has 100% to get an ability both parents have.
  • Racial bonus to skills is averaged and rounded down.
  • Automatic languages are from both parents lists.
  • Favored class is now favored classes.
  • LA is (averaged and rounded up. orig) total of both races +1
  • Ages are averaged.

Example: The Orlf (Orc-Elf)[edit]

  • +4 Strength, +2 Dexterity, -2 Constitution, -2 Intelligence, -2 Wisdom, -2 Charisma
  • Humanoid (Orc, Elf)
  • Medium: As a Medium creature, you have no special bonuses or penalties due to your size.
  • Base land speed is 30 feet.
  • Darkvision: You can see in the dark up to 30 feet. Darkvision is black and white only, but it is otherwise like normal sight, and you can function just fine with no light at all.
  • Low-Light Vision: You can see 1 1/2 times as far as a human in starlight, moonlight, torchlight, and similar conditions of poor illumination. You retain the ability to distinguish color and detail under these conditions.
  • Light Sensitivity: You are dazzled in bright sunlight or within the radius of a daylight spell.
  • +1 racial bonus on Listen, Search, and Spot checks. If you merely pass within 5 feet of a secret or concealed door you are entitled to a Search check to notice it as if you were actively looking for it.
  • Automatic Languages: Common, Orc and Elven. Bonus Languages: Draconic, Gnoll, Gnome, Goblin, Sylvan, Dwarven, Giant, Gnoll, Goblin, and Undercommon.
  • Favored Class: Wizard or Barbarian.
  • Level Adjustment: (+0 orig) +1.
