Hailix (5e Deity)
Hailix[edit]
Alignment. Neutral Good
Domains. Chaos, Time
Divine Rank. Greater Deity
A figure that manifests from the flow of time and belief in the butterfly effect. Time and Chaos are effectively identical, with the passage of time consisting of an infinite amount of instances arbitrarily assigned in a linear order for 3 dimensional beings. This is how Hailix views reality, and manifests to his worshipers through spontaneous instances of temporal anomalies (objects sent from other times), typically harmless in nature (See example table bellow). Worshipers of Hailix will decorate temples with pedestals displaying such items.
Anomalous Item | properties |
---|---|
A Toaster | slowly rises upwards when spoken at |
A copy of a hard-cover book that has not been written yet | Opening the book will show each page to be identical to the cover, rather a page. Closing the book will return the hardcover copies to return to their original, book-page appearance. |
A bag of miscellaneous children's toys | Correctly identifying the name of any of the toys in the bag will cause a disembodied voice (only the target can hear) will say "Remember me?" |
A red tricycle | The back right wheel is broken and slightly dented. Any attempt to fix will revert to its original (broken) state once unobserved |
A spool of thread with a box of needles | Regardless of skill, practice, or ability, the use of this sewing kit, will prove difficult, and will consistently produce messy (though functional) results. |
Hailix is a god that largely attempts to get mortal creatures to recognize that their actions have consequences; that the singular choice one makes will largely be a driving factor in the chaos of what mortals determine to be their 'future'. Those who are particularly faithful to his philosophies (and to him, of course) are occasionally blessed with what are called "butterfly dreams", glimpses of events that have yet to happen. These events are typically ones that will drastically change future occurrences, but are not yet set in stone. This means that a player who receives a "butterfly dream" has the ability to change their actions and change the flow of time itself.
