More information...

In ancient times the Onamin were ruled by a powerful gold dragon named Aryn'ykkx. More than just a dragon, Aryn'ykkx grew his power until he became almost a god. Knowing that he would die before he attained full godhood, the dragon gave his power to the first king of Onamin. The king ascended, gaining the power of a god. The power did not belong to the king, however; it belonged to Aryn'ykkx. Because of this the king did not gain a godly body. He remained a mortal, albeit one with a god's power.

As long as the Onamin live so shall the God King. Whenever the King dies the divine power passes on to the next suitable heir, usually his own child, though since Aryn'ykkx' blood flows through all the Onamin's veins any one of them could be made heir to the divine power. The heir is raised from childhood to behave in a manner befitting a god. They know well the power they will one day hold, as well as the responsibility that comes with it. Despite the name, the God King does not have to be a male. The current king is in fact a woman named Itlacih.

When the heir becomes king they gain the power of the God King, as well as all of the memories of every king that came before them. Despite the God King's home on the material plane they are fully aware that there are other gods, many of the kings have even met some of the other gods. Every God King since the first has elected to remain out of the other gods' wars on the grounds that it would be bad for their people. The God King's only real enemy is Nesra Azok, the fallen angel of chaos and lightning who protects the Onamin's enemies.

  • Individual God Kings can be either Lawful Good, Lawful Neutral, or Lawful Evil. This does not change the alignments available to their Clerics (they may be Lawful Good, Lawful Neutral, Lawful Evil, or Neutral regardless of the God King's alignment) but it does change the domains and subdomains that they offer. A Lawful Good God King offers the Good domain, and the Archon, Loyalty, and Purity subdomains, in addition to those listed. A Lawful Evil God King offers the Evil domain, and the Devil, Slavery, and Hubris subdomains, in addition to those listed.
