Incorporeal Movement. The gibbergeist can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. It takes 5 (1d10) force damage if it ends its turn inside an object.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The gibbergeist makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (3d4 + 2) piercing damage.

Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (2d6 + 2) slashing damage.

Etherealness. The gibbergeist enters the Ethereal Plane from the Material Plane, or vice versa. It is visible on the Material Plane while it is in the Border Ethereal, and vice versa, yet it can't affect or be affected by anything on the other plane.

Strobe. Each creature within 40 feet of the gibbergeist that can see it must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw, or become stunned until the end of the gibbergeist's next turn. If a creature's saving throw is successful, the creature is immune to the gibbergeist's Strobe for the next 24 hours.

BONUS ACTIONS

Shadow Stealth. While in dim light or darkness, the gibbergeist takes the Hide action.

The ghost of a long-dead predator. The largely nocturnal gibbergeist enjoys stalking smaller prey over extended periods of time, taunting and terrorizing children, animals or weaker monsters for several nights in a row before closing in. While its incorporeal nature allows it to hide anywhere, it is particularly attracted to small, dark spaces such as closets, behind furniture or from under staircases. It produces no light, but so completely absorbs light over its entire surface that it has a two-dimensional, silhouette-like appearance, typically completely black but capable of flashing more intense colors as a threat display or camouflaging mechanism.
In addition to its shadowy appearance, the gibbergeist can silently absorb noises over its entire surface or "bounce" them in any direction it desires, further masking its location and confusing prey. When it does wish to be heard, the whispering gibberish of its namesake seems to echo from all directions in a maddening chorus of voices.
