Wandering the caves, abandoned mines and mountain tops of the world, no one knows how the gheegur had come to be. The running theory is that a wizard of some kind had been experimenting with strange, glowing rocks with supernatural properties. These glowing green rocks had horribly affected the test subjects, turning them into the monstrosity that they are today. Piping had been inserted into these creatures to allow them the ability to breathe easily. Without these pipes, the creature's breathing would result in terrible growls and screaming, as its airways and lungs had been wrecked from continuous exposure to the rocks. Despite their seemingly hellish existence, the gheegur does not take it out on others, and instead wanders abandoned mines, eating the green rocks that people believe have led to its creation. While not healthy for it, it seems that the sheer concentration of rocks has caused a sort of harming aura to radiate off of them, hurting those that come into close contact with them. |
