Food Poisoning[edit]
Contracting Food Poisoning[edit]
When a creature consumes rotten, spoiled, or otherwise contaminated food, they must attempt a DC 14 Constitution saving throw. On a failure, they contract food poisoning.
Effects[edit]
Stage 1: The creature feels queasy and uneasy, but is otherwise unaffected. They may attempt a DC 14 Constitution saving throw at the end of each long rest, being cured of food poisoning on a success. After 6d6 hours of being affected by stage 1 food poisoning, it enters stage 2.
Stage 2: The creature begins to suffer cramps, nausea, vomiting, and/or diarrhea. They become sick, require 1.5x as much sleep and water each day, and must succeed a DC 14 Constitution saving throw when they eat any solid food, vomiting it immediately on a failure. After 8d6 hours of being affected by stage 2 food poising, it enters stage 3. They may attempt a DC 16 Constitution saving throw at the end of each long rest, being cured of food poisoning on a success.
Stage 3: The creature begins to suffer high fevers and/or bloody diarrhea. In addition to the effects of stage 2, they require twice as much sleep and water each day, and must succeed a DC 14 Constitution saving throw when they consume any substance, vomiting it immediately on a failure. At the end of each day, their maximum hit points are reduced by 1d4 as nerve damage and kidney failure begins to set in. This reduction can't be cured until after the creature's food poisoning has been. They may attempt a DC 17 Constitution saving throw at the end of each long rest, being cured of food poisoning on a success.
Treatment[edit]
Food poisoning can also be cured with lesser restoration cast with a spell slot of 2nd level or higher.
