Combat[edit]

Infest (Ex): An infection form that damages an enemy with it's tentacle attack must make a grapple check (the infection form gains a +14 racial bonus to this grapple check, for a total grapple bonus of +10). If this grapple check succeeds, the target takes an additional 2d6 damage for each round the grapple is maintained, including the first round. After the form has maintained the grapple for a round, the target must make a DC 25 Fortitude save or be instantly slain and becomes a combat form in 1D3 rounds (the infection form takes 1 damage, D6 damage for a swarm). If the target succeeds on the fortitude save, they suffer from a -2 to the next opposed grapple check and to the next fortitude save. If the target manages to break the grapple, the Infection Form dies (or deals 1d6 points of damage to the swarm), or if the target succeeds on three fortitude saves then the Infection Form also dies (1d6 points of damage to the swarm). If the target is wearing armor with a form of energy shielding, the energy shielding takes 1 point of damage, and the target is not infected (if this damage fully depletes the shield's energy supply, then the target is infested), and the infection form takes 1 point of damage (D6 for a swarm).
