Representing the last gasp of the flintlock before the invention of the revolver, repeating flintlocks were created by a small number of genius Italian inventors still tied to tradition.

A reserve of projectiles are stored above the barrel, with the end of this storage being a three-chamber sliding mechanism. As the top chamber is slid to be flush with the barrel, a large amount of gunpowder is loaded into the second chamber, with a small amount being loaded into the third. The top chamber is then dispensed into the barrel and made flush with the storage, lining the second chamber with the barrel and lighting the third, igniting both chambers of gunpowder and firing the round.
