Fateful Strike Variant (3.5e Feat)

This is a variant of Fateful Strike that I recommend for the Tideturner Prestige class. After playtesting, we found that 1 Fateful Strike per level as in the original was incredibly powerful - it basically meant that the fighter involved got a fateful strike attack for every single attack every day. Once that was combined with Spirit of Fury, it was incredibly overpowered. What follows is a slightly toned down version.
Fateful Strike [General, Fighter]
You can channel the essence of your spirit into your attacks, at a cost.
Prerequisite: Base attack bonus +8, Str 13+, Cha 15+, Power Attack, Indomitable
Benefit: Before making a melee attack, you can choose to take 1d6 points of damage (which is not subject to DR). You gain a +2 bonus to your attack roll. If you hit, you then inflict an extra +2d6 points of damage on your foe. You may use this feat once per round. You may use the feat once per day at first level, and an additional time per day for every 3 levels thereafter (eg 2 at 4th, 3 at 7th, 4 at 10th, and so on.) You may not use this feat if you are flat-footed or under the influence of a fear effect. This feat doesn’t stack with the benefit granted by a vicious weapon (see Sword and Fist).
