Stub Logo.png This page is incomplete and/or lacking flavor. Reason: Extremely messy to read, mechanics involving planting and recovering the shield should be a single trait, attunement restrictions should be in the attunement section.

Shield, Very rare

A tower shield with two large fang-like blades on the bottom.

AC Bonus Increase armor class by +2.

Stamping Attack As an action you can make a melee attack with the shield using your strength. On a hit the target takes 2d4 + your strength modifier piercing damage and is knocked prone. They are also grappled by your shield, not you, and cannot stand or move until they pass a strength/dexterity saving throw contested by your AC.

Regardless of whether you hit or miss, your shield embeds itself into the ground and acts as 3/4 cover for you and allies behind it in a cone shape.

In order for you to attack again with the shield you must spend one action removing it from the ground.

Possible Upgrades Each upgrade raises the rarity of the shield by one. The first upgrade costs 500 gp. The upgrades increase in cost by 200 gp for each new one (upgrade 2 = 700 gp, upgrade 3 = 900 gp, etc.) Ideas for upgrades are listed below. You can discuss with you dm about other potential upgrades within reason.

Speedy Recovery Use your bonus action to retrieve the shield from the ground rather than your action (strength 15+)

Pinching Fangs Every time a creature grappled by your shield attempts to break free and fails, they take 1d4 plus your proficiency bonus piercing damage as the fangs pinch into them, preventing their escape. As a bonus action you can cause the fangs to pinch their target in a similar fashion, causing the same damage.

Divine Gift Paladin or Cleric only. Your shield is imbuded with the power of you deity. You can choose to use your spellcasting modifier in place of you strength modifier for attacks with the shield. Requires Attunement.
