Famanecis[edit]

Contracting Famanecis[edit]

Famanecis is contracted if someone comes into contact with infected saliva (either through the bloodstream or ingestion) they have a chance to be infected. Famanecis does not effect Were-creatures or Lupine creatures, and they may cary the disease without realizing.

Effects[edit]

Stage 1: When initially contracted, creatures will begin to feel a growing hunger, this happens even in creatures that cannot normally feel hungry. Creatures may also start to forget certain dietary restrictions, or may spend more on food than normal. This often goes unnoticed until the disease progress to Stage 2. Those who do not get treated with in 2-4 will likely progress to Stage 2. (For each day after progression time has entered, players must roll a CON save DC:16, and on failure, will progress to the next Stage).

Stage 2: At Stage 2 creatures begin to feel painfully hungry, only being able to stave off the pain by eating. Creatures will often notice something is wrong around this time, if sapient, will likely seek treatment. Creatures will be more willing to break preconceived norms about food, such as breaking religious or personal decisions about not eating certain foods (E.g. Vegetarianism.) Those that receive treatment before exiting Stage 2 will likely not experience long lasting side effects. Those that do not receive treatment within the 7 days of entering Stage 2 will likely enter Stage 3.

Stage 3: At Stage 3 creatures will begin to grow ever more pained with hunger, creatures in Stage 3 will no longer be able to sense when they are full and may overeat if not monitored properly. Sapient creatures within Stage 3 may be effected psychologically, including but not limited to: cases of stealing food from people, cases of eating obviously expired or rotten food, cases of fighting those that they perceive as stealing their food. Creatures will forget qualms about societal standards, e.g. creatures may engage in cannibalism, but will not actively seek out to cannibalize others. Creatures that are treated in Stage 3 may have long term side effects including: larger/smaller appetites, new allergies, and/or immunodeficiency. Creatures who are in stage 3 for at least 1-2 weeks may start to progress into Stage 4.

Stage 4: At Stage 4, creatures enter into a wild state. Their thought processes will be devoted to the procurement of food of any variety. Creatures will begin to forget about their functions, such as a need for shelter, or how long they need to sleep, in order to use that energy to focus on satiating the hunger. Creatures will start to blur their sense of what is and isn't food, and can induce themselves with Pica. A creatures body will weaken all functions it deems as non-necessary in order to use energy for the procurement of food. This can lead to permanent loss of smell, loss of taste, loss of speech ability, muscle atrophy, and in some rare cases, complete organ failure.

Critical Condition: The creature's body will finally give out, if it has not already done so due to over-exertion, over eating, or eating a lethal object. At this point, the creatures heart will give out in an attempt to redirect energy towards the procurement of food.

Treatment[edit]

Famanecis can be cured through blood transfusion with a werewolf's blood. Though if the blood is not treated, they may contract that werewolf's condition. Famanecis can also be cured with lesser restoration cast with a spell slot of 4 or higher for Stage 3.
